Nate watched her with worry, he was afraid to leave her. He was scared for her, afraid that he couldn’t protect her from the sadness. He also knew very well how mercilessly long three months could be, and yet, he wanted to seem strong to keep her spirits up. “Will everything be all right?” he asked restlessly, and kissed Alex on the forehead, who was now whiter than snow. She nodded and tried to smile. Nate had to go if he didn’t want to miss his flight. He unwrapped his arms from the woman’s waist, and with a deep sigh, gripped his wheeled suitcase. With firm footsteps, he started for the transit’s entrance, but after a few yards, his determination crumbled to dust.
