A couple of hours later, after he had run and trained in the palaestra, and visited the baths to ease his muscles and mind, Stefanos found himself back before the doors to the temple of Hera. In his hand, he gripped the bunch of herbs, rosemary and thyme, which he had purchased from one of the sellers near the palaestra. He walked up the steps and entered the temple again. The familiar smell filled his nostrils as he picked his way through a few scattered worshippers praying before some of the smaller statues of the goddess, as well as before the large, central depiction of the queen of the Gods, where she stood before the cella of the temple.
