“We'll be careful,” said Sarah and looked at Jamie who gave a confident nod.
His mother seemed satisfied.
What Jamie had omitted to say was that they'd also discovered the name of a pawnbroker's business in Hamilton Square and it was Jamie's intention to go there first.

It was raining as they stood amongst the debris of what had once been the pawnbroker's shop. Not so long ago, other businesses had thrived here but now the area was condemned and soon everything would be cleared to make way for new housing.
“If we're going to find anything here,” said Jamie, pulling up his collar, “we're going to have to work fast. Time is definitely working against us.”
