CONTINUATION OF THE PRESENT TIME "You don't even know the way back there, don't you?" She mumbled as if she heard the things I whispered through my mind. She chuckled devilishly when she heard me gasp, "Calm your nerves ladies, I ain't going to do bad to both of you. I'm just going to show you something." I shifted my gaze on Kate, and I saw the relief suffused to her features. "Just keep following me, or else you'll be lost." We ended up following her again inside this dark small room. And I instantly covered my eyes with my bare hands when suddenly the whole room lit up so bright. I, then slowly remove my palms on my eyes as my mouth hangs open for a second as what I am seeing right now slowly sinks into my head. Warmth spread through me when I wandered my eyes around the room as my knees almost wobbled in desire. "Wow," that is all I could say for now! I roamed around the whole room but the first thing I noticed is the huge book that was placed in the center, the wall behind that book was loaded with ancient arts! The lady beside me even turned her gaze on that book too. I walked slowly towards the book's direction as my orbs were focused and locked to the book. And out of many beautiful furniture, things, and paintings that are attached along the walls and each corner, that's the first and only thing that caught my attention when this lady turned on the lights. There's something with this one, because I couldn't take off my eyes on it. The lady slowly walked towards the book's direction, and when she finally reached the center, she gently touched it before gazing at me, smiling. "This is what I wanted to show you," I creased my forehead in confusion, as I took a closer look at the book. "Ha! So, you're saying that you drag us all the way here for a bedtime story? Is this a freaking joke?" Kate retorted, sarcastically. "Kate!" I exclaimed, giving her a stern look. She rolled her eyes and walk towards our direction. "Is this some kind of prank, lady? Because we ain't got time to play around. Our pack could be searching for us as of this moment. So cut the crap, 'cause we ain't here for a bedtime story, or whatnot." She glares at her angrily as she was trying to hold herself back from grabbing this lady's hair. But in spite of Kate's threats, the lady smirked. "This isn't just your typical bedtime story book, Kate. This holds thousands of stories— real life stories to be exact." She said using her serious tone. But what shocked us more was, she knew Kate's name before we could even tell her! Kate looks at her as horror fills her eyes. "T-The hell with you woman! What exactly do you want from us?!" I gulped thrice after hearing those words from her— couldn't be able to speak. "Nervous?" She shifted her gaze on me. It's amazing how she noticed how uneasy I am. My lip rose up, could she really sense that? Am I really that too obvious? "I could really tell." She trailed off. She then sat down on the floor carrying the huge book on her lap. "Shall we read it together?" She uttered, and without hesitation I walked towards her direction, and I sat beside her like what she did a while ago. "Make sure that my time won't just go to waste. Don't make me regret this," I said, threatening her. She didn't budge talk, instead, she chuckled. She began flipping the cover page of the book, and as soon as it opened, a weird aroma filled the room that's lingering in the book for a long time now. It was written in pure English, but the words written in it was so illegible to even read it. "Do you believe that our world was once whole but two lands arose?” Her first question immediately quipped my interest. As she was about to continue, Kate interrupted with her raging tone. "I never knew you were actually this dense, Sorel. She's clearly wasting our time with her myths and fantasy stories made for children. I mean, do you actually—" I immediately cut her off. "Kate, if you want to leave, then leave. I'll stay. And for the record, you don't have any rights to call me names such as dense, for someone who I barely know, huh." I hissed. She looked at me in disbelief. "Fine. Then so be it." She quickly took her pace out of this room, but I eventually got over with that and returned my gaze to the lady beside me. "Well, I mostly read them in books and fantasy genre movies." I retorted. She smiled, mischievously. Goosebumps. "The world was once whole, a single sphere. Then, something occurred—a sundering, a division—and from that fracture arose two lands and two kinds of people: the Mundanes and the Perennials." She asserted. My interest grew deeper as she continued to speak. "Many of us believe that this is just a myth, but it isn't." She paused. "The supposed myth was actually true, and it really happened in real life." She whispered the last following words, and it gave me goosebumps in an instant! "Our people were once unified as two lands, living together under a common set of rules. However, two people each from a different tribe, led to discord and division, fracturing our community." She then faintly smiles. "What rule?" I asked impatiently. She chuckled. "A girl from Mundane crossed over the border," she paused, "Which leads to the other land and tribe— Perennials." "But I thought they were one and united—" "By law and bond. And crossing over each other's borders is forbidden." She looked heavenward. "But why?" "To keep them safe," she paused. "Mundanes need oxygen to live, like normal people. Perennials are immortal, but oxygen is like poison to them. Even inhaling a little air can kill them." "That is why it's forbidden for them to cross the border." "Just as Perennials are harmed by oxygen, Mundanes cannot survive in the Perennial realm, which lacks breathable air." "One couldn't survive without air, one who could actually die with air." Her sudden seriousness was unsettling. She was a different person, and it gave me the creeps. Still, I couldn't deny the rules made sense, prioritizing their safety. "Two lands aren't just meant to be one. Not because they're not unified, but they're different by birth and fate. They may act the same, dress the same, and may look the same, but they're still different by blood and by tribe." She sadly continued. "So did the girl die?" I asked. She glanced at me, and she shook her head. my mouth hung for a second in excitement. "So, what happened?" I desperately asked. "Easy there, tiger. We're still on the story's synopsis, if I'll tell you about the whole thing on the spot right now, you wouldn't be able to know what happened exactly," well, she was right. "So shall we turn the page?" Beat. I slowly nodded. "Welcome to the story's chapter one," I eyed her. "BOOK'S CHAPTER ONE: ONE SWEET GLIMPSE." _ TO BE CONTINUED...
