(Lucas’ POV) When we walked into the room where my mother was, she was still out cold. There was a doctor with her, though. “How is she?” I asked as I moved the wheelchair over to mom’s bedside and turned to shake the doctor's hand before adding, “I’m her son, Lucas.” “Hello, Lucas. I’m Doctor Carter. I’m the doctor on call at the moment. We just got your mother in the room and settled, but her vitals are strong and looking good. She’s pretty banged up but her injuries look much worse than they actually are. We’ve given her something for pain so she’s sort of in and out at the moment.” I breathed a sigh of relief at the news.
