“Daddy!” Danial cried out as Emmitt wrenched open the cab door. He flung himself at his father, whose arms curled around his son and held him tightly. They both had tears streaming down their faces as Emmitt walked toward our car.
Ron, however, was already talking with the driver, “Did you see anyone with the lady?” He was asking as I approached. “Yeah. Yeah, there was a woman and a man. The lady didn’t seem to like the woman very much, though.”
“Did you happen to see where they went?” Ron asked, and the driver shook his head. “No, she wanted me to get the kid away fast so that’s what I did.” The cabi said with concern. “Ay, look, mister. I don’t want no trouble. I just wanna collect my fare and get home to the wife and kids. Yah know?”
