Vivid Reminder

Valeria woke up with her usual vision of shades of grey. She felt Daisy licking her cheek as soon as it sees Valeria was awake. She knew they were both all alone in the room. She recalled the night before conversation with Noah which slightly upsets her. Noah had told her he was uncomfortable but he was the one who first slept off as soon as they were done with dinner. Valeria had slept later than usual, she had listened to the gentle breathing of Noah which made a smile formed on her face. Valeria wondered where he had gone off to so early in the morning. Soon enough, Ava came into the room and greeted her. Valeria was hesitant to ask of Noah’s whereabouts but she later gave in. “Oh, he had gone off to work ma’am” Ava had responded and Valeria muttered something Ava couldn’t hear. “Sorry I couldn’t catch you ma’am” Ava asked. “It’s nothing Ava, I should also get dressed” Valeria said and Ava nods. Ava did her job of bathing her and after they were done, she went on to dressing Valeria. Breakfast was next, Valeria couldn’t deny how lonely it was for her to eat all alone in the wide sized dinning room. She questions herself on why her tastes suddenly changed when she only just had two meals with Noah. After she was done with breakfast, she asked Ava to take her back to her room. “Your things are currently being moved to another room ma’am, it was Mr Owens orders” Ava said. “Oh yeah, he told me about it, have completely forgotten about that” Valeria said with the smile she always had on. “We could walk around a little today also then, I will love to be able to find my way myself” Valeria said. Ava doesn’t want to go through the phase of having to keep Valeria from not falling so she thought of making them do something different. “How about you do something you love today ma’am, I’m sure there’s something you might like to do the most rather than walking around” Ava quickly said. “That is what I love doing the most” Valeria said, oblivious to Ava’s distress. “How about the second thing you would love to do” Ava planned on not backing down in convincing her. “Oh that’s music, I find it intriguing especially the opera” Valeria said excitedly and Ava felt like she had won in convincing her, though she was surprised with Valeria’s taste in music. “That’s great ma’am, I could make you listen to it right now, any genre you might prefer” Ava said. “Thank you Ava, I will love too” Valeria knew Ava doesn’t want them to go around the house with how much she tried to convince her. At the moment, she would prefer a long walk rather than listening to the music. “We should head off to the living room or perhaps you want it here?” Ava asked. “We should go to the living room” Valeria said and with the help of Ava, they got to the living room. Ava had her seated and Daisy sits on Valeria’s laps just like he always does. Ava searched around if she could come across a disc of opera music but she couldn’t find one so she thought of searching through her phone and downloading so she could connect to a music player. “Do you have a favorite artist ma’am” Ava asked Valeria who awaited for the music to have turned on. “Aflred Harrington” Valeria said. Ava searched his name and all of his musics got displayed on her phone screen. She connects her phone to the music player and turns on the music. A bright smile formed on Valeria’s lips as soon as she heard the sound of her best artist. What inspired her liking to opera music is because her late mother had often played the music and they will dance to it. Though Valeria had forgotten most of the memories but she could never forget how bright her mother had smiled when she listened to the music. After her mother died, she also took her liking to the music because it reminded her of her mother and her once existence, she doesn’t want to get rid of her mother’s memory but the time passing doesn’t do her the justice. The visual memory she only recalls was her mother’s usually pale face which seemed to have a faked smile on. Her mother had always looked sad whenever her father was around, she once thought they loved each other just like her father had told her after her mother died, but she knew they weren’t in love. She doesn’t know much story behind it since it was long time ago and she could hardly remember how everything looked in reality. The reason she had always tried to walk outdoors was to keep reminding herself of how lovely the weather is. Even if she couldn’t see it, she wanted to feel it and get used to it. At the back of her mind, she often wondered if she would ever get to see again. But she doesn’t feel bad if the thought of never seeing again crossed her mind, she had embraced it. Ava watches Valeria keenly as she hums along the voice emitting from the music player. She wondered what Valeria have been thinking about to have such a sad pitiful look on even though she had a smile on. Valeria knew all of the man’s album, Ava had first found it weird but then she reasoned to it. If she was the blind one, she would also be idle enough to have all music crammed. Ava regretted talking Valeria into listening to the music because she couldn’t stop. Valeria only told her to stop after playing all of the man’s album. Ava’s ears was hitching as the song sounded boring to her. She had momentarily yearned and her eyes felt heavy from the need of sleep. When it finally stopped, her ears are the most happy. She figured she would get something for Valeria for her to only listen to the music.
