(The next day, Oloma invited her Friends Adanna and ogechi to her house after her mother left for the market as her heart was to heavy to carry such burden in her heart). OGECHI: Oloma honestly speaking what your mother did is not good but there is a little advantage in what she did. Adanna&Oloma: (Looks at each other in surprise) What do you mean?. OGECHI: I mean that man is rich he can sponsor your dreams to become a successful fashion designer after all you both within time fall in love As long as the money is there. ADANNA: ogechi are you sure your normal, so your encouraging your own best friend to marry against her will all for the sake of money, did you think before saying such horrible things. OGECHI: What did I say wrong everything I say is the truth the only mistake her mother is going behind her back to do such and I also don't blame her for making such a decision for her because if she had told Oloma in the first place she will still refuse so like I said before with time love will grow in the marriage. OLOMA: so your saying that I should go ahead with the arranged marriage, I don't even know or see the man am getting married to only heard some random news that he is rich which I doubt that. The main truth is my mother only want this marriage for her benefits nothing else. Mama doesn't care about anyone apart from herself that woman doesn't love me. OGECHI: Oloma that's not true nobody can love a child more than it's mother, even the most dangerous wild animals don't play with her child every decision she is making is for your own good. ADANNA: You haven't found your self in such a problem that is why you are talking like this. OGECHI: Well if I find myself I won't risk it I will accept it with open arms as long as money is involve. OLOMA: What is he is not who people think he is, what if am being abused and end up being paralyzed, hospitalized or even lose my life in the process what will you say. OGECHI: God won't allow it I Know the God that I serve ADANNA: Which one is you know the God that you serve when you're giving her bad advice OGECHI: Bad advice don't you know girls are dying to get this opportunityto marry into a wealthy family that can sponsor all they need and you are here crying instead of you to go and thank God for bringing such opportunity to your way you are here crying and screaming like a banshee that has lost its mum. OLOMA: So you are advicing me to marry my mysterious husband. OGECHI: He is not mysterious, it's just that you haven't met him yet, so don't say what you don't know ADANNA: Honestly speaking am sorry for what am about to say is what your mother did is very selfish of her. OLOMA: That's it my mom doesn't care about anybody's feelings I miss my dad because assuming he was here then Mama won't have the audacity to do this. why didn't she work so hard to achieve the kind of success and lifestyle that she wants, now she wants to put all the pressure on me which won't work. ( All of a sudden Mrs Arubogwu, Oloma mother returns from the Market and interrupted their conversation) MRS ARUBOGWU: I can see that you brought your friends here what are you two doing here. I thought I warned you both to stay away from my daughter abi. OGECHI: Mama good afternoon ma it's not what it's looks like Oloma called us her and we just came to console her. MRS ARUBOGWU: Console her about what exactly how do you want to console her.(pause for a while then continue with her speech) oh I see she might have told you and since she has told you let me help her and complete it for you girls Oloma my daughter her is getting married to the richest man son soon who will finally liberate my family from poverty and suffer and I will become the mother in law to the Richest man son and that the main reason why I asked her to stay away from local girls like you who have low ambition for there self so stay away from Oloma ADANNA: Excuse me Mama please i respect you Alot but I won't tolerate you insult me and my friend OGECHI. MRS ARUBOGWU: (Laugh out loud) Chimo see this small small children ohh I have insulted you two aren't you both local too local for my daughter and I don't want you both to initiate her with your poverty mentality so stay clear from my daughter my precious gift from God. ADANNA: Mama aren't you ashamed of yourself why are you forcing Oloma to marry a man that she doesn't love preventing her from achieving her dreams, doesn'tour choice matter to you at all and you call your self a mother, a mother that is so selfish that she is ready to sell her daughter out all in the name of marriage just because you want to be wealthy. MRS ARUBOGWU: Bia are you talking to me like that what do you know better mind your tongue I know you both are jealous of my daughter that why you are trying your possible best to discourage her from getting married so you can take her place but let me tell you your plan has falled. OGECHI & ADANNA: Jealous how OGECHI: Mama am not jealous of her am even trying my best to talk some sense into to accept the marriage proposal Even though it was done at her back that it will benefit her and with time the love will grow between them. MRS ARUBOGWU: God will bless you my daughter for telling her the truth( Adanna and Oloma looked at OGECHI in shock before shaking their head in disappointment. OLOMA: Ogechi am so disappointed with you I pour spit on you MRS ARUBOGWU: My friend will you shut up you should be happy that you have a friend like ogechi your just paranoid because she is telling you the truth. (ADANNA and Ogechi left the compound while Mrs Arubogwu turns to her daughter Oloma who turns her head to the other side of the compound) MRS ARUBOGWU: if you like face any where you like that one is your business but listen we are going to see your husband and his father tomorrow so better look for a good outfit to wear so that you won't embarrass me there OLOMA: Mama why are you doing this to me. MRS ARUBOGWU: My friend will you shut up and go and prepare something for me to eat and stop complaining about everything you complain to much don't you know that everything am doing is for your own good.(Oloma looks at her mother for a while with the mix of anger and sadness while her mother starts to sing an old ancestry song.
