2: Does this even count as a Love Story?

1676 Words
When we arrive at father's office, he orders every essence beings to leave. As soon as they left, he manifested a couch for the four… three of us to sit in. “Father, why did Azalan start the war?” I ask. “W-war,” Zorg stared at me and father back and forth, “Was that the reason that I died?!” “Shut up dork,” Axent speaks through his thoughts. “This is one part of my lazy self that I’m not supposed to sit out!” “My name is Zorg and not Dork…” “SHHH, please keep quiet…” Dizane glares at them both. While we argue with each other about something like keeping quiet, I noticed that father was moping around. Maybe he is counting down his patience or he’s not really used to taking care of kids like us. “Maybe father only got to experience being a kid once,” Dizane whispers to my ear while shooting snowballs at Zorg and Axent. “You can hear my thoughts? That’s amazing!” I whisper loudly back to her. “Yeah,” she stops with her attack. “However, I can’t read father’s thoughts…” “Hey father,” Axent throws Dizane’s snowball at him. “Let’s start with the story…” Father, again, lets out a big sigh. Dizane and I can’t help but laugh at him. ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ According to previous accounts, the war was caused by an essence being from my sector, Trauma. The reason was unidentified since he was able to escape from punishment. Essence beings have a lifespan of a century and it’s been a millennium since. He is definitely dead, according to father. However, his legacy still haunts us all and there are still defects lurking around outside the Essential Core. From father’s point of view, the cause of which was the Rebirth System. He said that a child’s growth and development is highly affected by its learning environment. I believe him and it definitely hurts that I was the one to cause the internal destruction of the Essential Verse. “Every single day, our essence beings go to war just to collect and deliver essences from and to mortals all over the universe. They go to war because there are still defect essence beings out there causing imbalance,” Gazbleir continues to discuss. “We were lucky to retrieve all of the cores of the fallen essential beings just to single them out. To be honest, I was the one who was mostly traumatized by the war… though you don’t have to blame yourself over it, Azalan.” I didn’t know what to say, so I just kept silent. I want to know what changed him to be the strongest of the essential beings right now. I know that he is the strongest, not because he is my father, but because he is the only one with a bi-core. “Father,” Dizane holds onto my hands tight. “Will you tell me the reason of your evolution and if possible… how we died?” Father turns around and glanced over at the distance, “W-when Azalan was still the evil one I used to know, she… killed you… your mom, Dizane.” Everyone fell silent. I was waiting for Dizane to let go off my hands, but she didn’t. I am relieved, but then I realized tears are falling down from my face. Dizane wipes them off for me. “She looks at me smiling, “That wasn’t you, remember? You promised me that you won’t let me get hurt again, right?” “I’m s-sorry!” I cry so loud that even father comes over to calm me down. “Don’t worry child,” Gazbleir sighs, “It’s not your fault. You were just being used…” “Uh excuse me,” Axent yawns. “I’m sitting this one out siblings… just wake me up when this is all over.” Zorg mutters, “W-what a killjoy?” Axent intentionally drops his feet on top of Zorg, “Did you saying something, Dork?” “G-get your feet off me!!!” the poor kid yells rolling over down the couch, “How did you hear me?!” “Shut it,” Gazbleir growled like a dog. “As for you, Azalan, you’ll be fine now with all your siblings and friends here.” “Y-yes father,” I unconsciously used my father’s scarf to wipe off my tears. “I won’t grow up bad, I promise!” “Yes… good… my scarf… goo…” Father sighs. “Father, about mother…” Dizane grabs his cloak. ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ “Dizane, your m-mother and I… we go way back. It wasn’t really something called love at first, but something else called parallel relationship. Being somebody like me who never wanted to experience rebirth, I grew to understand about the entire verse and not just this Essential Verse we are in. She’s the same as me and also of course a few others who never wanted to forget their past memories and change their own personalities. I remember when our creator, Lord Xpir, grouped us randomly by twos and guess what I was partnered with you… your mom.” “So that’s how your love story begun, huh,” I started to formulate my own ideas. “Dizane, do you like idea of helping me find a mother for the four of us?” “Wait,” Father sighs, “That talk again…” “I think I like the idea of finding us a mother,” Dizane grins. “Father, you need to move on with mother’s death.” “Well,” Father breathes out another sigh, “I guess you are right, but not to that point, Azalan…” “Father,” I grinned, “that’s not for you to decide, right Dizane?” “She’s right, father~” Dizane grins back. “Well, I guess the two of you had your minds made up already,” he pats them both in the head. “Just don’t mess around and you’ll be having your training starting tomorrow.” “Did I just hear training, father?” Axent takes another peek at us. “I’ve been waiting to stretch my bones. Thinking back, I figured I’d just go back to take a nap. Training takes a lot of my rest time…” “Don’t bother w-with Axent, father,” Zorg tries to toughen up. “He w-won’t last a day outside.” “Speak for yourself, dork.” I smirked, “Is that backpack worth the weapon?” “This backpack is my weapon!” “Well, not as good as my scythe,” I proudly showed my weapon. “That l-looks more like a baton with a blade attached t-to it!” he yelled. “Dork, this is a scythe, you dummy.” I yelled back. “Kids, I think this isn’t the time to argue…” “Father,” Dizane shows her weapon. “Look at my beautiful ice gun~” “Yes dear, that is beautiful,” he nods at her and then glances back over to us. “Kids, settle down now please!!!” ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ “Captain,” an essence being notifies father as they knock on the door. “You have a visitor.” “Alright, I’m on my way. Tell them to wait at the lounge… do we even have a lounge?” “Uh, yes captain… I think we do have one but we rarely use it.” “G-good,” father walks to the door. “You are all dismissed, my children. Have some fun during your free time.” “Yes, father.” Dizane gleefully opens the door for him and closes it as soon as he got out. “Let’s look for our new mother~” When she uttered those words, I couldn’t contain my happiness as I grinned. My two other siblings nodded in unison, even Axent took effort just to nod at us. We’ll do it… not for our sake, but for father’s. However, I caught a glimpse of sadness on my little sister’s eyes. I just hoped that father wasn’t the reason for that trouble… I just hope she had another reason. I hope…
