Zalea's POV The day had come when I was to be assigned my ward. Come to find out, because of my background, my ward was none other than our kingdom's Lycan Prince. Shaking my head, I couldn't believe I was to be his Guardian. "Who'd you get Killer?" sighing, it would have to be this piece of s**t to come up to me. " You first Chance" "The Alpha from Dread Mountain. Young and just taking over from his father. Now you." he gestured with his hand for me to go. "The Lycan Prince". I raised my brow at him and turned to go pack my things. "f**k ME! That's not fair at all! Why you?" you could read the disgust on his face like one could read the alphabet. "Just lucky that way I guess. Not like we get to choose whom are Wards are." "LINE UP YOU SORRY EXCUSES FOR LYCANS!" Oh lovely I rolled my eyes and turned towards my right where the yelling at come from. "What Lea don't want to go meet the Prince? Afraid you are going to fail?" Smirking he knew I couldn't do anything to him for he out ranked me, well for now. "Thomas, I would think you knew by now that nothing scares me." I smirked and walked to the truck, but before I could fully walk away, I felt a hand land on my shoulder and spin me around. Instinct kicked in and my right fist connected with his jaw. "f**k, you'd think you'd learn by now that I love it when you play rough." Thomas just smirked at me and fast as lightning he had me by my throat against the side of the truck. He pinned me there and leaned in, taking a deep breath near where my neck meets my shoulder. "You are almost of age to find your mate, little pup. Don't think I won't be present on that day, seeing how you are mine." He licked my neck, causing me to stiffen and my hand to reach for my sword. Laughing, he grabbed my hand and pinned it above my head. "Oh little pup, you will be mine in one week's time. I have raised you since you were two years old. Molded you into the perfect Lycan for me. How do you think you were able to get the Prince as your Ward? By being better than everyone else? Being the most deadly? Who do you think made you that way?" Nipping my earlobe, he finished talking to me, "cuffing you will be the only way any of my Guardians will be safe on the way there." realizing too late what he said, I felt the silver cuffs snap in place around my wrists. "Asshole!" I spat at him and, because of it, got punched in the gut. Falling to one knee, I just laughed. "Wow, you'd think that after all these years you'd think you would find someone new to torment, though one question, why me?" I raised my eyes to meet him directly, something I knew he hated anyone doing. Backhanding my face, causing a trickle of blood to slip from my lips, he answered by laughing and "you'll never know" as he walked away, telling one of the guards to strap me into my spot in the truck. Chance happened at that moment to walk in and sit directly across from me and just looked at me the entire ride to the festival that was being held at the Royal Families compound, just like every year. Thankfully, this will be my last trip in this truck with these people and I will be staying at the compound. The trip to the compound took around half a day, so we arrived just before breakfast since we left around midnight the night before. As the truck jolted to a halt everyone started to exit the truck and I sat impatiently waiting for a guard to unlock my chains. "Anytime now Thomas!" I was getting impatient and wanted to see where I would be living out the rest of my life or at least I was dismissed. "What's the hurry little pup? Ready to leave me so soon?" Thomas walked into the truck and unlocked my chains and escorted me out before he took the cuffs off outside the truck. Rubbing my wrists and watching them slowly heal, man, I wish I had shifted already so I'd heal faster than this. Sighing, I looked around the compound and saw the area where we were to perform so that our future Wards could see what type of Guardians they were getting. They should know by now, I would think. Feeling someone watching me, I looked up towards the castle and saw a man staring out a window right at me. Locking eyes with him, I smirked and raised a brow and spun away to prepare for my fight because I know Thomas and I know that's what he would be having me to. Fight multiple opponents to show my strength and then shout that I am merely 17 facing all shifted Lycans. Rolling my eyes I dropped to one knee to pray to the Goddess like I always do.
