Pulling into human territory was nerve-wracking as it is, but to pull in and the first thing we see what appeared as a partial riot. That alone doesn’t really help calm the nerves.
“Show time.” Austin said, as chipper as he could. I’m pretty sure he is as thrilled as I am.
I rolled my eyes in his direction and squeezed my beautiful mate's hand.
“We got this. Are you ready for this or do you need a minute to get your bearings?” I asked her. Now is the time to be calm, cool and collected. All of this was new to her, so I wanted to give her an option so she could feel that this was her world as well as mine. That she fits.
She nods, giving me a reassuring squeeze. It was clear to me that she was ready.
I reached for the handle and swung the door open; this was the easy step.
