The waiter and barmaid in the pub were offered the same snarl and glare from Todd as the sheriff and inn keeper. They backed off and did exactly as Todd told them to. Nick knew he was causing a fuss with these people, sitting at the table with Todd and eating the same food. He found it amusing, how people acted toward him and how they reacted to Todd.
