The Omega Princess
Prologue
As the sun sets behind the large spruce trees on the edge of the Royal Crescent Moon Pack, the werewolves all stand in a large semi-circle. Queen Chloe steps out in front of the pack, distinguishable only by her long purple hair, King Zander joins her, reaching out and holding her hand, as they walk to the small monument that sits on the edge of the forest. It is a memorial for those who had been lost during the Freedom For All war that happened 20 years ago. Alongside the Royal couple stand their children, The Alpha Prince Asher, the 19-year-old heir to the throne, his sister Princess Rebecca, who at 18 her hair was as vibrant and purple as her mothers, next to her was Prince Hamish, who at 17 was the brains of the family, taking after the Headmaster Alpha King. Then stood the Princess Royal, Phoenix, her light brown hair blowing in the breeze, the 21-year-old eldest child of King Zander and Queen Chloe Colton, also known as The Omega Princess.
Each member of the royal family, step forward placing a bunch of yellow daffodils on the memorial, as the pack remain in silence, a time to reflect on the sacrifice that was made so that all wolves could be free, irrespective of their rank or who they were mated to. Unusual for a werewolf ceremony, a Vicar stands, hunched over, holding his walking stick as he prays a blessing over the packs. He had helped the pack during the war, giving refuge to those unable to fight at his old stone church, and had swiftly become a close family friend of the royal household.
As the service ended, the Princess Royal, Phoenix walked back to the pack house, taking a seat on the large L-shaped sofa, she looked around, smiling at the familiar faces who she loved with all her heart. Her mother the Queen stood laughing with Caroline, an omega of the pack, who was treated as family, along with her daughter Ellie, the mate of Ethan, one of the queens’ best friends and the pack healer. Phoenix gave a soft smile, as she saw her Daddy the King grab hold of her mother’s waist, placing kisses on her mating mark as the queen giggled. Phoenix loved her family, her Daddy most of all, she knew what she wanted to do would make little sense, to anyone but her, yet still, she had to leave.
Phoenix was not the natural born child of King Zander and Queen Chloe, they had found her, abandoned by her Delta parents, from an enemy pack, because she was born omega, living in the forest with other escaped Omegas led by Drake, who turned out to be mated to Caroline. Phoenix was instantly loved by the Queen and the King, and she was accepted for who she was, not what she was. She had lived a happy life, loved by all, never mistreated, given every opportunity just like her brothers and sister, nobody ever even thought she was not a real royal member, or if they did, they would never dare to utter their thoughts, but the difference was there for all to see, with just one look at her hair. Phoenix, watched as her Uncle Robin and Aunt Lacey walked into the pack house, they had held their own ceremony as Alpha and Luna at the Silvermoon pack, just a stone’s throw away from the Crescent moon boarder. Alpha Robin had arrived with a bottle of home brew werewolf-proof whiskey in his hand, Vicar Ted clapped his hands with glee, as Robin grinned at the old man, opening the bottle and pouring him a glass. Next to arrive with Liane, a wolf who had a teleportation gift, she was not officially a pack member, but this was her home, when she was not flitting around the world with her best friend, the Vicar, was Uncle Josh with Aunty Nicki, the Alpha and Human Luna of Silverback pack, with them was their human daughter Hannah, and their werewolf son Alpha Zander, named after Phoenix’s father. But everyone just referred to him as Zan, to avoid confusion. They soon joined the party, that had begun, drinking the whiskey.
Phoenix laughed, as she watched them all, living their best life. She would miss them, so much, but she had to find herself. She knew her birth parents were killed in the war, they had been members and fighters for the Ullswater pack, before it was disbanded, but something deep inside her was calling her away from the safety and love of Crescent moon, she could not explain what it was, almost like a calling, to find the missing pieces of her life.
Chloe walked over to her eldest daughter, sitting down beside her.
“Hey, you look deep in thought.” Chloe smiled.
The queen did not look a day older than 20 even though she was now 38, but that is the blessing of being a werewolf, living over 500 years, her father was now 107-years-old, and looked around 28 years of age. Phoenix looked up at her mother as always, she was not dressed as a queen, but more like a punk rocker in a black net skirt over fish net tights and a purple ripped t-shirt with Queen written in silver on the front.
“Yeah, I am okay Mam,” Phoenix sighed.
“I know you are okay, but I want you to be happy,” Chloe sighed out, placing her arm around her daughter.
“Mam, I am happy, honestly,” Phoenix sighed.
“But something is missing.” Chloe looked down at her daughter raising her eyebrows.
Phoenix smiled up at her mother, she knew that her leaving would not be a surprise to the Queen, given her unparalleled prophetic gifting.
“Yeah, I was going to wait till tomorrow, but I have been accepted into the Universität Internecinal De Catalunya, for my doctorate in Economics and Law.” Phoenix smiled at her mother.
“That is great news, if that is what you want to do Phoenix.” Chloe smiled, blinking back the small tear that formed in her eye.
“It is Mam, I just need to … I don’t know … work out who I am as a person. Maybe find a blood relative or two. You know I love you, and this pack, I just feel that I am on a different path now,” Phoenix sighed.
“I know, I have been waiting for this day, your Dad, he understands as well. But promise me this Phoenix, you will come home to us when you can, even just for a visit,” Chloe asked her daughter.
Phoenix smiled down at her mother, knowing her mother’s gift, she read between the lines that she possibly would not return back here, her home, to live again. The realisation causing a lump in her throat, as Ava her wolf let out a small whimper in her mind.
“So … when do you leave?” Chloe asked with a small sigh.
“Three days Mam, I am going to go, maybe have a look around Spain, the university is human, but I believe a lot of Spanish werewolves attend. Maybe find a pack I can stay with. I don’t know at the moment; I just know it is time for me to take the next step in my life.” Phoenix smiled.
“So do you want Liane to take you?” Chloe softly asked.
“No, after all it is, like I said, a Human Uni, so having a couple of girls appear out of nowhere will be not the best first impression. But if Dad could let me have the Jet, that would be helpful.” Phoenix smiled.
“Yeah, we can come with you if you like help you settle in?” Chloe offered.
“Mam, not being funny or anything, but having the King and Queen of the werewolves of Britain arrive out of the blue, will also not be good for me blending in, and finding myself.” Phoenix laughed, even if her mother was human and not a royal wolf, she would never blend in anywhere, she was made to stand out.
Chloe giggled, and nodded her agreement, then walked over to Robin, grabbing the bottle of whiskey, pouring two glasses, passing one to Phoenix.
“I thought you had banned that years ago.” Phoenix laughed.
“Given you are leaving us soon, I am making an exception, for the next three days. Goodbye daughter, hello headache from hell,” Chloe stated, taking a big gulp out of the bottle, and swallowing it, along with her unshed tears.
