It didn’t come like a thought. It came like fire. Aisha’s breath caught mid-sentence, her body locking as heat poured through her veins without warning. Her skin felt too tight, like it didn’t belong to her anymore. She swayed. Callen was on her instantly. “Aisha.” Her knees buckled. “I—something’s wrong,” she whispered, but even her voice sounded unfamiliar to her own ears—thin, strained, breathless. The scent in the room shifted. Callen froze. Every muscle in him went rigid, jaw clenched so hard she heard it grind. His eyes darkened, not glowing, not shifting—holding.
