Lorenzo and Maria had returned from their business trip. They sat on a couch in the sitting room gisting about the fancy places they have visited, and reminiscing on how successful the trip went.
His phone rang and it was Mr. Conti, his favorite business partner, that called, asking him if they could hang out to play golf that evening. He ended the call shortly after their brief conversation.
“I will be heading to the golf center later this evening.”
He informed his wife as he cleared his throat and stretched his hands to take his cup of wine on the table.
Lora walked in, looking all radiant and excited. She was fully prepared for her music class. Lorenzo, her dad noticed her excitement.
“I can't help but notice you are glowing. What has got you so excited?”
He teased .
She ignored the question with a big grin as she kissed her parents on the cheek and waved goodbye.
Her excitement made her dad remember what he already had in mind to inform her.
“Yeah, Lora… that reminds me” He called her back.
“You will be coming with me to the golf center later this evening, I want you to meet someone very important”
He added with a positive smile, hoping she would be more excited.
Out of curiosity, she agreed and promised to return before evening.
In the evening, Lora and her dad headed to the golf club in his Mercedes Benz. While in the car, she tried her best to get the information of this so-called important person she was going to meet, from his dad in the car but he insisted that it was going to be a surprise. He assured her that she would definitely love the surprise.
On getting there, She met with her dad’s business partner, Mr Conti, the famous conglomerate business owner. He was known to be one of the most wealthy businessmen in Italy.
“Hello Mr Conti. It's great to see you again”. She smiled exchanging pleasantries with him
The two business men shook hands and greeted each other in their usual way.
Lora noticed a young lad standing right beside Mr Conti. He stood tall, a figure of quiet strength. His physique was honed, muscles subtly defined beneath his clothes. His dark hair was neatly styled, framing a face with a strong jawline and intense, dark eyes. He exuded an air of controlled power.
The resemblance was striking, she knew immediately that he was his son.
“Good evening Mr De Luca” Adams stretched forth his hands to give him a hand shake.
“Hey, Adams.. You are all grown up now”. Lora’s dad responded with a big smile trying to embrace him.
“I can’t believe the last time I saw you was at my banquet party when you were still 10….Ohhh….Time flies indeed”
He added as they both laughed.
Adams Conti just completed his masters degree programme in the United States Of America and now he is back home to take over one of his father’s businesses.
Mr De Luca introduced Lora and Adams to each other, trying to tease them to be friends but Lora, who was beginning to understand her father’s intentions, had a cold look on her face, unable to hide her disgust. She felt very uncomfortable with the whole situation.
Their dads left them to keep each other’s company while they entered the golf course to enjoy the moment.
It was a very awkward and silent moment for Lora.
“Hey, you should be happy to have me here” He said boastfully.
Breaking the silence as he held her hands. She flipped her hands forcefully, out of annoyance and irritation.
“Do you go around touching ladies anyhow you like?”
she asked in defence, moving away from him.
He let out a deliberate smile as his eyes lingered on her form, while moving slowly and studying her figure. His fingers grazed his chin, tracing the curves of his jaw as he licked his lower lips. His lustful gaze drifted over the soft lines of her silhouette, savoring the image of her, taking the way her short golf skirt hugged her hips.
He wondered what secrets the layers of clothing might conceal. There was a palpable tension in the air, as if the moment hung between anticipation and the weight of unsaid thoughts.
“You’ve got some nice curves you know.” He busted out, triggering her to respond.
Lora looked at him scornfully, hissed out loud and walked away quickly, developing so much hatred for him.
“You’ve got no choice baby, you are mine.”
He shouted so she could hear him.
Lora wondered how audacious he was.
“He has got some real nerves.. Who does he think he is?
She questioned herself while she walked away.
She moved to the reserved section, where other people were seated on foldable chairs and waited patiently for her dad.
After their dads had finished their golfing, they moved to where people were seated, sat on a chair to discuss their next business deal.
Mr. Conti noticed the children were not seated together, he traced Adams with his eyes and also called Lora from afar where she was seated alone.
“I hope you two got along already” He questioned, signaling to his son.
He noticed Lora’s discomfort and questioned her further.
“What’s wrong princess? Are you okay?. He added.
Lora gave Adams a stern look.
“Yes, I’m fine,” she responded coldly.
It was time for them to leave. They all walked slowly to the packing space where their cars were packed.
“You know, now that Adams is around. He can always come around anytime. It will be very nice to have him around in the house. So the children could get to know each other more and bond well.”
Lora’s dad said as he faced Adams.
Mr. Conti nodded in agreement.
Lora expressed shock and utmost discomfort. She hated Adams already and she couldn’t even stand the sight of him.
The two men shook hands and entered into their rides. Lora’s dad paid little attention to Lora’s discomfort in the car. She was so angry and full of rage, yet she kept mute.
“Ohh….So where are we headed? And who is the important person we are going to meet now?”
She asked her dad, breaking the silence in the car.
“What do you mean?” He responded, expressing utmost confusion.
They were both confused.
Her father, consumed with the idea of Lora and Adams getting along, seemed oblivious to Lora’s subtle cues. He announced that Adam was the person he wanted her to connect with, hoping they would become friends. Lora’s face fell.
“Dad, Adam was so rude! She protested, recounting his disrespectful behaviour.
Her father dismissed her concerns. His response, a subtle blend of disregard and persuasion.
“He will be around more now” He said, “and you’ll see, you two will get along so well”
Lora was full of rage. She realized how little her father valued her feelings. The drive home was very silent and the air thick with unspoken tension.
As they got home. She stepped out of the car and slammed the door, the sound of the door echoing her frustration, storming into her room.
Her father, seemingly unfazed, called after her.
“I know what's best for you, Lora.”
