Drake POV
After an uncomfortable night on the couch, Maddie and I were up early and ready to go visit her family at the Red Moon Pack. Maddie was somewhat somber today, and I could tell she was still put out by our discussion from the night before. Her conversation with me had been limited since that chat and she was reluctant to hold my hand today. I didn’t let go of her hand, she simply made little effort to reciprocate the touch.
I was conflicted. Maybe I was making too big a deal out of her missing wolf. I didn’t have to mark Maddie to be close to her. I would have another discussion with her, and we could both decide on what we wanted to do going forward. I wanted her to be happy and know I wanted to be with her regardless of whether she gets her wolf back.
