Chapter 9

708 Words
Ayla had been walking silently, her head stuck in an endless loop. “ Why didn’t my mate wait for me? Didn’t he want a mate?” she continuously asked herself. Suddenly Ayla gasped as a huge pair of arms circled her and a warm face was pressing into her neck. She froze for a moment and then slowly she started to unthaw, wrapping her arms around the neck of the man who smelled so amazing. He smelled like chocolate and walnuts. He was big. Of that she was certain because he was hunched over while he was holding her. Another thing she was certain of was that her mate was a Lycan. Thoughts started filtering in through her brain then. ‘ Maybe he did want her, maybe he just didn’t know she was there.’ she reasoned with herself. All of a sudden a she-wolf stormed up to them and threatened her. “ b***h get your hands off of my man. I am the Luna of this pack and you need to leave before I rip your throat out!” the woman growled at her. All at once, Ayla knew who these people were as she came back to herself. This was her mate and the she-wolf in front of her was the woman he’d been sleeping with days ago. Rage like nothing she’d ever felt before, roared up inside her and Ayla pulled out of her mate’s arms. When the she-wolf got a glimpse of her, she paled. Ayla’s eyes glowed brightly and her power coursed through her like waves crashing violently against the stones. Suri swore under her breath and pulled as many wolves away from Ayla as she could.   Ayla’s voice throbbed with power as she spoke. “ You are the w***e my mate was f*****g, while I was screaming in agony!” she snarled, her once serene face a mask of murderous intent. Trish looked at Andre and then back at Ayla. “ Tell her baby! You are planning to mark me this full moon and make me Luna!” she said but Andre didn’t say anything. He was too busy staring at his mate. “ I told you, you shouldn’t have f****d that stupid bitch.” Kai said to him, his Lycan’s voice filled with awe. Ayla roared in fury as she blasted the she-wolf in front of her clear across the property. Andre’s pack gasped as the trees around them came to life. Andre looked at Ayden when he heard Suri talking. “ Ayden we need to stop her before she kills someone! I don’t want innocent blood to be on her conscience.” Andre jumped into action the minute his mate blasted Trish again, making Trish yelp in pain. Ayla stalked the she-wolf, blasting her multiple times until she saw blood running down the other woman’s side. The woman Trish, called out for help from her pack members but none came at her call. Shock, pain and betrayal crashed through Ayla when her own mate took a protective stance in front of Trish. “ You will stand down! You are not going to hurt her again!” Andre growled. “ You are stupid human” Kai said in his mind, shaking his big Lycan head. Andre flinched at the hurt and betrayed look that replaced the fury on his beautiful mate’s face before it turned into a blank mask. It was the blank mask which worried him. He didn’t know what his mate was. “ Thank you baby. I knew you loved me.” Trish said, wrapping her arms around Andre’s waist. He hadn’t even noticed she’d done that until he heard Suri gasp and her power unintentionally flowed into his mate. Ayla felt tears spill from her eyes and that was the last straw for her. With a scream of fury and her power pushing her, Ayla threw a powerful blast at both her mate and the woman he chose over her. The bolt hit Andre square in the chest, sending both of them backwards through the house and into the forest behind it. “ You two deserve each other! I embrace the end now, this world can die for all I care!” she said, her voice throbbing with pain. Almost instantly, the storm that had built around her, vanished and she turned on her heel and walked the other way.
