I woke in the middle of the night to the faint sound of... someone crying. At first, I thought I was still dreaming, but as I pulled myself from the haze of sleep, everything around me came into sharper focus. Yes, someone was definitely crying.
I slowly opened my eyes, staring up at the dark roof of the tent before turning my head to find the source. “Raven?” I whispered.
She was leaning forward slightly, her hands covering her face as she cried as quietly as possible. When I spoke her name, she quickly lifted her head, wiping her eyes and nose before trying to compose herself.
“You’re awake,” she said, her eyes still red and swollen.
I slowly sat up as best as I could. Dimar had given me something for the pain, which had helped me sleep, but my wound hadn’t healed properly,
