Damian burst through the hospital entrance with Selene in his arms.
"Doctor! Somebody help!"
The panic in his voice caught everyone's attention. A stretcher was rushed over as nurses carefully took Selene from him.
"What happened?"
"She fell and hit her head."
The medical team wheeled Selene towards the emergency room.
Damian stood outside the door, his bloodstained hands trembling.
People passing by began to slow down whispering among themselves.
"Isn't that Mr Damian knight?"
"What's he doing here?"
Several people discreetly pulled out their phones and began recording him.
Damian ignored the stares and murmurs.
His eyes remained fixed on the emergency room door.
Within minutes, the video spread across social media, drawing the attention of countless viewers.
At the Knight mansion, Mrs Eliora scrolled through the trending videos on her phone.
The moment she saw Damian standing outside the emergency room door, her expression darkened.
"So......you finally found someone you care about."
She tightened her grip on the phone, a cold smile creeping through her lips.
Back in the hospital, James hurried in. He went straight to Damian and grabbed him by the collar.
"What did you to her?"
Damian didn't say a word.
The people stared fearing what he might do.
They were surprised he didn't do anything.
"I'm sorry James, I didn't mean to hurt her. It was an accident."
James finally released him. He moved closer to the room door.
After a few moments, the door slowly opened. The doctor came out.
"How's she doing?" Damian asked in concern.
The doctor smiled softly. "She's fine now, just few head injury."
"Can we see her?" James asked
"Of course you can"
"Thank you doctor" Damian said.
James hurried in leaving Damian behind.
"Selene?" James slowly called her name.
Selene slowly opened her eyes, she tried to get up but the pain from her head stopped her.
"I'm sorry, does it hurt?"
Selene smiled , "no it doesn't "
Before James could say another word, the door slowly opened.
Damian stood in front of them not sure of what to say.
"Selene...." I'm really sorry I made you go through all this."
Selene smiled.
"It's fine Damian, it's just a little scratch."
"No, it's not Selene!" James shouted. "He almost killed you."
"James enough, I said I'm fine."
"No..." Damian interrupted. "He has every right to be angry."
Before either of them could say another word, they heard noises coming from outside. They ignored it at first but something drew Damian's attention.
He heard someone calling out to him, he recognized the voice.
It was his mother.
"Mom?" Damian said in surprise as he hurried out of the room.
"Mom, what are you doing here? You're creating a scene."
Mrs Eliora slapped him. The people quickly pulled out their phones to record.
James held Selene's hand as they came out of the emergency room.
Eliora quickly rushed towards her, she tried to slap her but James held her hands.
Damian quickly stood in front of Selene.
"Mom, enough! You've created enough scene, now please leave."
"How dare you!" She raised her hands to slap him again, but this time he stopped her.
Eliora's eyes widened in shock.
For the first time in years, Damian had stopped her from hitting him.
"Damian..." She stared at him in disbelief.
"What's wrong with you, son?"
"Nothing is wrong with me, Mom. I'm just tired... tired of letting you control my life. I'm not a child anymore."
Mrs. Eliora let out a cold laugh. "Good. You're not a child. Yet you're choosing this... thing over your own mother."
"Mom, enough! She's not a thing. She has a name."
The people began whispering among themselves.
"Who is she? Why is Mr. Damian protecting her? What is their relationship?"
Mrs. Eliora smiled mockingly. "Since everyone is so curious, Damian, why don't you tell us? What exactly is your relationship with this girl? We'd all like to know."
Selene lowered her head, fear filling her heart.
Damian remained silent for a moment.
Mrs. Eliora laughed mockingly. "Damian, what relationship do you have with this girl? Cat got your tongue?"
Damian finally lifted his head. "She's my wife."
A wave of gasps filled the room.
Selene stared at Damian in disbelief.
Mrs. Eliora's eyes widened in shock.
"She is Mrs. Selene Knight."
"Damian... what are you doing?" Mrs. Eliora asked, her voice much lower than before.
Damian met her gaze. "I'm doing exactly what you wanted me to do. You wanted everyone to know my relationship with Selene. Now they know."
He paused before adding, "I've admitted it. Now please leave. You've embarrassed yourself enough."
Mrs. Eliora stared at him for a long moment.
Without another word, she turned and walked away. Her guards quickly followed behind.
Damian turned to Selene.
She was still staring at him, unable to believe what had just happened.
"Are you okay?"
Selene nodded.
Damian headed straight to the cashier and paid Selene's hospital bill. Soon after, she was discharged.
Later that evening, rumors spread across the entire city.
Every news outlet carried the same headline:
"Mr. Damian Knight, the billionaire heir, secretly marries an unknown woman."
The video of Damian publicly introducing Selene as his wife quickly went viral.
It didn't take long before the video reached Vanessa.
She stared at her phone, a cold smile slowly spreading across her lips.
"So... Damian married an ordinary woman."
Without wasting another second, she grabbed her car keys and drove straight to Mrs. Eliora's mansion.
She walked into the living room with a cold expression.
"Mrs. Eliora... what's this?"
Mrs. Eliora immediately stood up. "Vanessa? You're here."
Vanessa held up her phone. "Of course I'm here. What's all this on the news? Damian is married? When did this happen? And why didn't you tell me?"
She took a step closer. "You promised I would marry Damian. Now tell me... what is this?"
Mrs. Eliora sighed. "Calm down, Vanessa; I promise, I don't know what has gotten into Damian. I have no idea when or how he married that girl."
"You should have an idea. Damian is your son."
"I only asked Damian to find himself a wife. I never imagined he would actually do it."
"So you asked him to find a wife... and he did."
"No, Vanessa. I never thought he would truly find one. We all know Damian as someone who doesn't believe in love. I don't know how he ended up falling for that girl."
Vanessa let out a soft, mocking laugh. "Mrs. Eliora, you'd better do something about this. Otherwise, I'll tell my father to withdraw his partnership with your company. You promised Damian and I would get married. That's the only reason my father agreed to increase his investment in your company. Now fix this mess..."
Or deal with the consequences.
With those final words, Vanessa turned and walked out, leaving Mrs. Eliora standing there in stunned silence.
Mrs. Eliora slowly lowered herself onto the couch, her hands trembling.
"How could this happen? Damian... what have you done?"
Back at Damian's penthouse, Selene lay on her bed, unable to stop thinking about everything that had happened at the hospital. Her mind kept replaying the moment Damian had called her his wife, even though theirs was only a contract marriage.
The bedroom door slowly opened.
Damian walked in, carrying her medicine.
The room fell into complete silence. Neither of them spoke.
Damian quietly opened the medicine, placed the pills in her hand, and handed her a glass of water.
Selene took the medicine without saying a word.
Outside the room, James stood by the door, secretly peeking through the small gap with a smile on his face.
Damian turned to leave.
"Damian..." Selene called his name softly.
He slowly turned around.
"Yes?"
"Thank you."
A faint smile appeared on Damian's face as he nodded.
"You should get some rest."
With that, he quietly closed the door behind him.
James, who had been waiting outside the room, watched Damian leave. Neither of them said a word.
A moment later, James entered the room.
"Selene, how are you feeling?"
Selene nodded. "I'm fine, James. You don't have to worry about me."
James smiled knowingly. "Selene... I think Mr. Damian likes you."
"James, enough. He doesn't."
"I'm sure he does. I've seen the way he cares about you. Didn't you see how he stood up for you today? He even went against his own mother."
Selene lowered her gaze.
"I was really wrong about him. Mr. Damian is actually a nice person."
A small smile appeared on her lips. "He's a nice man... but he doesn't like me."
James chuckled. "He does. And I think you like him too."
Before Selene could respond, a loud voice echoed from outside.
"Damian!"
The shout was filled with anger.
Startled, Selene and James exchanged confused glances before hurrying out of the room.
Damian froze the moment he saw who had barged into the penthouse.
His expression darkened.
"Vanessa?"
