pg. 01 | prologue “Your eyes are the gateway to hell.” • • • THE PADDLE in front of me mirrors the face of a person I do not want to see. Those eyes show a sounding emptiness from within, a fair light skin that keeps the forming of bruises visible, dry lips that have been beaten up, and wet black hair that somehow enlightens the darkness of the sky.  Hollow thoughts begin to race through me as the light sound of drizzle begins to pour down. How did this happen and why is this happening? The look on the person's face continued to stare right down at me as though it was staring right through my soul. Those dark, looming black eyes that emit nothing but lifeless orbs . . . I don't know how long I can keep this up. What was standing behind me was a six-foot tall silhouette whose eyes were as red as the epitome of evil and bloody sharp teeth. Laughter erupted through my lips as though every little thing was playing with me. The sound of the sirens continued as I stood there motionlessly. If only I had remained silent that night.
