Episode 8: The Crimson Genesis

The sky above the jagged coastal cliffs was painted in violent shades of bruised iron and pitch. A relentless torrential downpour hammered against the floor-to-ceiling glass of the isolated estate, the ocean below roaring like a caged beast. Inside the primary suite, the darkness was absolute. Every single element of the room from the brushed matte-black walls and dark obsidian tiled floors to the heavy silk duvet was drenched in deep, unbroken shade. The only contrast in the entire vast space was a faint, emerald glow emanating from the ambient LED strips embedded along the baseboards, casting a cold, serpent-green hue across the dark furniture. On the massive bed, Louis stirred awake. His head felt heavy, his body completely drained of strength. Beside him, Noah sat upright against the leather headboard, his broad, muscular chest bare, his dark eyes watching Louis with unwavering intensity. Hearing Louis’s breath hitch, Noah leaned down, his deep baritone unusually soft in the dim green light. "Louis? Are you okay, homeowner? Are you hungry?" Louis opened his eyes slowly, the sapphire irises reflecting the emerald light. "Yes... I'm hungry," he rasped, his voice barely a whisper. Before Noah could move to get him food, a sudden, blinding agony exploded in Louis’s lower abdomen. It was a sharp, tearing, visceral pain unlike anything he had felt in years. Louis gasped, his body curling inward as a cold sweat broke across his forehead. Without a word, he threw off the heavy black duvet, forced his trembling legs over the side of the bed, and rushed into the matte-black bathroom, slamming the door shut. Inside the dark, tiled bathroom, Louis gripped the edge of the obsidian sink, his knuckles turning pure white. He looked down at himself. He was bleeding. A thick, steady crimson stream was trickling down the inside of his pale thighs, dripping onto the dark tile floor. Louis froze, his heart hammering against his ribs in sheer disbelief. He had bled from bullet grazes, blade slashes, and broken bones before but he had never bled like this. This was not a wound. This was an internal, rhythmic shedding. As he grabbed a fresh towel to cleanse his skin, the sharp sensation of the crimson blood triggered a sudden, vivid, suffocating memory: a ghost from a nightmare he thought he had buried forever. Flashback: Project Annihilation Nine Years Old Nine years ago, deep within an underground military facility buried five miles beneath the northern mountains, the air smelled perpetually of copper, formaldehyde, and bleach. The government-funded trial, a dark, illegal $70-billion program codenamed Project Annihilation, had gathered 500 orphans and stolen children from across the eight provinces. The mandate was monstrous: synthesize the absolute apex biological weapon. A weapon that could survive chemical warfare, heal from mortal trauma, and operate without a shred of human empathy. Out of 500 children, 480 died within the first eighteen months—their bodies collapsing under extreme nerve toxins, venom injections, and forced pathogen exposures. Only 20 children survived the initial trials. But the directors were not satisfied. They realized that human emotional attachments—specifically romantic or s****l desires toward women—were tactical flaws that could compromise an ultimate weapon. So, they performed the ultimate surgery. The scientists surgically removed the male reproductive organs from the surviving young boys, crushing the tissues, mixing them with experimental synthetic hormones, and re-injecting the compound directly into their marrow to force dense muscle growth and rapid cellular repair. In place of their original biology, the lead surgeons performed a groundbreaking, high-stakes procedure: they synthesized and implanted a complete, fully functional female reproductive and fertilization system deep within their lower abdomens. They created human beings who possessed terrifying male combat strength and cellular density, yet carried internal female fertilization capabilities turning them into self-contained biological units capable of passing on their genetically engineered traits. To fund this nightmare, three syndicate lords had covertly split the investment: Mafia 5 (Vane) held one survivor: Subject 018. Mafia 7 (The Serpent's Reach) held one survivor: Subject 011. Mafia 2 (Nikolai) held the absolute crown jewel: Subject 001 Louis. Louis had emerged at the very top of Project Annihilation. His body had adapted to every disease, every venom, every physical trauma thrown at him. His cellular regeneration had been brought to near-completion before the country’s government collapsed under financial strain and the secret deckers purged the facility, halting the project. Louis was a living weapon of mass destruction. Bullets could barely penetrate his dense muscle layers, and small wounds closed in minutes and he could regenerate. But the scientists had injected him with one final chemical lock: a neuro-suppressant meant to permanently destroy his ability to feel love, affection, or fear. Louis snapped back to the present, shaking the memory from his head. He cleaned his skin thoroughly, adjusted his clothes, and walked out into the vast, matte-black penthouse living room. Noah was waiting at the center table, a bottle of water and a heavy row of specialized medication canisters set out beneath the soft green ambient light. Louis walked over, his face pale, his blue eyes carrying a raw, vulnerable shadow that Noah had never seen before. Without a word, Louis pulled his phone from his jacket pocket and set it on the table. It was a custom, heavily modified flagship device heavy as a brick, wrapped in thick tactical casing—that held his encrypted personal records. Louis looked up at Noah, his voice trembling slightly. "Noah... I need to show you what I am." Noah stepped closer, his brow furrowed in deep concern. "Louis, what happened in there? Why are you shaking?" Louis took a ragged breath, explaining the dark history of Project Annihilation the $70-billion program, the 500 children, the three survivors, and the surgical modifications done to his body when he was nine years old. "They removed everything, Noah," Louis whispered, his eyes shining with unshed tears. "They built a female fertilization system inside me. The blood... it's a cycle. My body is biologically capable of carrying life. I am a monster built in a lab." Noah stood completely frozen, his dark eyes wide in absolute, stunned silence as the gravity of Louis's words washed over him. He looked at the pale, breathtaking boy standing before him the boy who had been tortured, rewritten, and turned into a weapon. Then, Noah stepped forward, wrapped his massive arms around Louis's waist, and pulled him tightly into his chest. Noah buried his face in Louis's dark hair, holding him with a fierce, possessive tenderness that made Louis's chest ache. "You are not a monster," Noah growled softly, his deep voice thick with emotion. "You are Louis. You are my homeowner." Noah pulled back slightly, looking down into Louis's sapphire eyes with a warm, incredible smile breaking across his handsome face. "If your body can hold life... then one day, we are going to have kids. We're going to have twins. We're going to have a real family, away from my father, away from Vane, away from all of them." Louis stared at him, tears finally spilling over his lashes. For nine years, the chemical injections had made him a cold, unfeeling machine. But the moment Noah had entered his life the moment Noah had held him, kissed him, and protected him the neuro-suppressant had shattered. Noah's warmth had unlocked Louis's heart, allowing genuine human feelings, affection, and love to bloom inside him for the first time in his life. And for the first time since he was a child... Louis felt fear. Not fear of pain or death, but fear of losing the man holding him right now. "I'm tired, Noah..." Louis mumbled, resting his head heavily against Noah's shoulder. "I know, baby. I know," Noah whispered softly. Noah carried Louis over to the wide black leather sofa, laying him down gently and pulling a warm fleece blanket over his body. Louis's eyes slipped shut almost instantly, his breathing evening out into a deep, restful sleep as the pain in his abdomen slowly faded. Noah stood over the couch for a long time, gently smoothing a strand of dark hair away from Louis's forehead. A cold, lethal fire ignited deep within Noah's brown eyes as he looked out the floor-to-ceiling glass at the dark storm raging over the gulf. His father, Nikolai, and the Fifth Lord, Vane, had built this nightmare. They had tortured the boy sleeping on the couch. Noah reached into his pocket, his hand tightening around the heavy frame of his sidearm. He was done playing defense. For Louis, for their future, and for the family they would build together, Noah was ready to burn the underworld to the ground. To Be Continued in Episode 9...
