Jeri woke early the next morning, the scent in her hotel room a bit…off. Something like too much mold or mildew, though her room had been spotless when she’d checked-in. Her phone sat on the nightstand, no flashing lights in sight. Sawyer hadn’t texted back. Her whole soul felt heavy, despite the great conversation with Randy last night. “I wouldn’t call it great,” she muttered to herself as she went to get in the shower. They’d embraced, sure.
