The door closed behind her with a soft click. I let out a breath I hadn't realized I'd been holding.
"That was risky," Kai grumbled. "What if she betrays us?"
"Then we'll know where her true loyalties lie," I replied. "And we'll act accordingly."
"I won't hesitate to twist her neck if she tries to betray us!" I uttered, making Kai smirked.
The hours ticked by slowly. I busied myself with last-minute preparations, reviewing maps and patrol schedules.
However, my mind continued to wander back to Sasha.
There was a certain aspect of her that deeply bothered me. Her resistance, her determination... it aroused emotions in me that I believed were no longer present.
"Concentrate," Kai snarled. "She's here for one purpose, and that's our revenge... that's all."
