They could see and smell her life giving blood beneath the surface of her skin. Fangs were bared and their hands flexed in anticipation of the chase and eventual meal. Some could even hear the beating of her heart… the slow and steady rhythm was a starting tempo that would soon escalate into a rapid sound similar to gunfire. One of them reached down and picked up a small branch from the ground. Holding it out in front of him, he smirked as he snapped it in half and the girl jumped in surprise. “Who’s there?” Kat demanded when she heard the snapping of a branch.
