Dawn’s POV
I was on a mission to avoid Alpha Levi. If he was coming from the east, I went west. If I heard his voice in the dining hall, I turned around and went to the kitchen instead. It wasn’t that I was afraid of him. I just didn’t want to face him. The way he shouted at me last time still rang in my head, and I didn’t want another argument.
Naomi noticed once more. “You’re hiding from him again,” she said one morning while setting down a basket of vegetables.
“I’m not hiding,” I said quietly. “I’m just staying out of trouble.”
“You know he notices, right? He’s been looking for you every day.”
“I don’t care,” I said. “He can look all he wants. I’m not interested.”
Naomi smiled. “You sound so sure of that.”
“I am,” I replied.
But I wasn’t as sure as I sounded. Every time someone
