I woke up to the smell of someone's cologne. I still had my mask but the man next to me had lost his. I looked at him and I nearly stopped breathing when I realized who was next to me.William Port woke up. As soon as he caught sight of me, he sat up.
"Good Morning." He said, looking at me like I had three heads. I simply waved. I didn't want him to recognize my voice.
"Well, you know the one-night stand etiquette, off you go." He said.
I couldn't move, my innocent brain couldn't comprehend what was going on. We had been together the whole night, he had done things to me that would hurt my dreams and desires for the rest of my life. However, as the night had come to an end, he was asking me to leave.
"I left some money in your purse, buy yourself something pretty." He said as he got up to get dressed. "The room is paid till noon, go ahead and shower if you want. I am leaving first, since you seem reluctant to leave.
Within ten minutes, William was gone. I got up and took a quick shower, I ran to get dressed and cried on the bus. I didn't want to tell anyone of my humiliation, there was no one I could talk to and, to top it off, I had lost the one thing I held on to. As I sobbed, I internally scolded myself. I should have said no to the party, I should have said no to the man. I should have said no to alcohol. Honestly, I should have said no to the Port's
William's POV
As I woke up, I saw the most piercing eyes staring at me. I knew this girl had to be one of my sister's friends. They were always trying to go out with me. I couldn't understand how they were so young yet so devious. It hurt me to think that, because that meant that my sister was just like them. The idea of my sister partying and waking up to different one-night-stands hurt me. We did not have much in common. She was in her early twenties and I was reaching my thirties. We viewed the world in a different way and I only hoped that the twins could do better than both of us. I was fifteen minutes into my drive when I realized I had left my tablet in the hotel room. I tried calling to see if the girl from the night before had seen it but no one answered.
If I was lucky, she would be showering and I wouldn't have to talk to her or see who she was. If I was fortunate, she would be gone by the time I got there. As I approached the door, I stood quietly but there was no music or girl chatter that followed nights like the one we had. It seemed like she had scored the brother and she was ready to move on. I walked in and there was no one inside but the door was left unlocked. The bed was left undone. It seemed she had used the sheets to cover herself. I thought it was humorous, it is not like there was anyone to be shy of. I was about to shake off the odd behavior when I caught a glance of the scarlet spot that tainted the bed's fitted sheet.
"s**t!" I said to myself. No wonder she had behaved so oddly, this girl was not a one-night-stand kind of girl. I slept with this girl for the first time, it was her first time. I had the bad sense to pay her like a corner prostitute (not that I was well educated in that matter).
I knew at that moment that I needed to find this girl. There was very little I could remember of her. She had blonde hair and piercing gray eyes. She had a cute purse, and I should have known that the purse was not what a typical party girl uses. I could swear I had seen that purse before, but I couldn't remember which of her friends. My sister was always surrounded by friends and they were too young and immature for me to pay attention to them.
Janette's POV
I had finally reached my place and all I wanted was to sleep. I grabbed my purse and after I emptied the contents I tossed it in the trash. I kept the money and made a note to return it to William. I didn't want to give it to him personally, but I did have access to his entire house and if all else failed, I had his address. I had borrowed a wig from his sister since she wanted me to go as a blonde and I was a bit thankful for that because he would remember a blonde and not a brunette. I was for once thankful that Amy had talked me into dressing with a wig and contacts. I changed my clothes and made my way to the port's residence to return the items to Amy. I knew William was never home and it was Sunday. Therefore, he would probably be out in his office the entire day. I had a better chance of being run over by a sled in the desert than seeing William.
It had started raining before I reached the gate, by the time I got the code in it had started pouring. They had not called me on that day since I was going to be at the party with their daughter. I was happy that that was the case, but I wanted to return her items as soon as possible. There was no sound in the house, which meant everyone had gone out. I walked in and greeted the kitchen girls. I wanted to let them know I was in the house. I was talking to one of the girls as I was walking out of the kitchen when I crashed into something hard. "Crap!" I yelled in pain, looking to see who I had crashed into.
