Chapter 16:

293 Words
As Ethan and Danny made their way to their Calculus class, Ethan made a conscious decision to sit at the front, eager to focus on the lecture and absorb as much knowledge as possible. Danny, however, couldn't resist the opportunity to sit next to his friend, his irrepressible energy keeping Ethan company. Their attention was soon drawn to the late arrival of Hannah, whose tardiness earned her a reprimand from the professor. Ethan couldn't help but notice the subtle tension in the air as Hannah entered the room, her presence commanding attention despite her tardiness. After the class concluded, Ethan was surprised to find Hannah waiting outside the room. She approached him with a smirk, her words laced with an air of confidence. "Hey, genius, why seat at the front?" she asked, her gaze piercing as she locked eyes with Ethan. Confused, Ethan responded cautiously. "Are you talking to me?" he inquired, unsure of Hannah's intentions. Hannah's smirk widened as she took a step closer to Ethan, her voice lowering to a whisper. "I know you like me," she whispered into his ear, sending a shiver down Ethan's spine. Before Ethan could respond, Hannah turned on her heel and walked away, leaving him bewildered and uncertain. But his confusion quickly turned to shock as he witnessed a heated argument unfolding between Hannah and a familiar figure—Jake, the same bully who had tormented him in high school. As Ethan watched in disbelief, he realized that the past had come back to haunt him in the most unexpected of ways. And as Hannah and Jake's confrontation escalated, Ethan couldn't help but wonder what role he would play in this unexpected drama—and what consequences lay in store for him as a result.
