Agate had thought Southland a ghost town on her first visit. She corrected that assessment -- it was a ghost town now.
Only a few buildings remained -- the older ones. All made of deathtree, they'd remained unscathed while Taak Ts'iikil's army had razed the town to the ground. Deathtree was not so common a building material in Southland as in the rest of the country as it tended to make houses overly warm and Southland was already too hot. Southlanders were far more like to use adobe in their building materials.
