Emily's POV- Third POV Emily and Rachel were strolling through the mall, window-shopping and enjoying each other's company. They decided to take a break and grabbed some ice cream to cool off. As they sat on a bench, licking their cones, Emily blurted out something shocking. "You won't believe who I saw at the museum the other day," Emily said. "Who? Brad Pitt?" Rachel joked. Emily shook her head. "No, even better. The father of my baby." Rachel nearly spits out her ice cream. "What?! And you don't even know his name?" "I was a little tipsy," Emily admitted. "But I remember his face." Rachel laughed. "Well, good luck finding him. You might have to hire a private investigator or something." Emily groaned. "I hope it doesn't come to that." As they continued their shopping, Emily's mind wandered to the mystery man she met at the museum. She couldn't remember much about him, but she had a hazy memory of their encounter. Later, as Rachel drove her home, Emily found herself lost in thought. She couldn't help but feel a little sentimental as they waited at a stoplight, watching couples holding hands and enjoying the sunshine. Suddenly, Emily was jolted out of her reverie by a vivid flashback. Flashback: Emily was sitting on a park bench with a guy. She couldn't remember his name, but he was handsome and charming. He turned to her and said, "You know, I feel like I've known you my whole life." Emily smiled shyly. "I know what you mean." He leaned in and kissed her, and Emily felt a flutter in her stomach. Back to the present: "Jack!" Emily shouted, causing Rachel to slam on the brakes. "What the hell, Emily?!" Rachel exclaimed. "Sorry, sorry," Emily said, laughing. "I just had a flashback." "A flashback?" Rachel repeated. "Of what?" "Of a guy I met in the park. His name was Jack," Emily said, feeling a rush of excitement. "He was so sweet and charming." "Jack, huh? Sounds like a real heartthrob," Rachel said, grinning. Emily nodded dreamily. "Yeah, I wonder what he's up to now." Rachel scoffed. "Oh, come on. You don't even remember his last name. He could be a serial killer for all we know." Emily laughed. "That's true, I guess." As they drove away, Emily couldn't help but feel a twinge of regret. What if Jack was the father of her baby? She may never know. But for now, she was content to bask in the memory of their brief but magical encounter. As Rachel and Emily plopped down on the couch after a long day, she pulled out her phone and started scrolling througha gossip blog. Suddenly, she gasped and turned the phone towards Emily, showing her a picture of a man. Emily squinted at the image, her memory hazy and struggling to recognize the man staring back at her. "Who is he?" She asked, feeling a nagging sense of familiarity. Rachel's eyes widened in disbelief. "You seriously don't recognize him?" she exclaimed. "That's Jack Siam! The billionaire playboy who's been making headlines for years." Emily's heart dropped as the memories flooded back. Jack was the father of her child, a fact that she had only recently discovered. But seeing his face again, it was like a jolt of electricity running through her. Rachel continued to scroll through the blog, giggling at the juicy details of Jack's latest exploits. "Apparently he's been spotted with a new model every week. You know, for a billionaire, he sure has terrible taste in women." Emily rolled my eyes, trying to push aside the feelings of hurt and resentment that bubbled up inside her. "Well, he clearly has a type," she muttered. "But I don't think he's going to be too thrilled to find out he's going to be a dad." Rachel raised an eyebrow, a mischievous glint in her eye. "Oh, I don't know. Maybe he'll be excited to add 'father' to his list of conquests." Emily let out a bark of laughter, despite the gravity of the situation. Leave it to Rachel to inject humor into even the most dire of circumstances. But as she sat there, staring at the picture of Jack on the screen, she couldn't help but wonder what kind of man he really was. Would he be excited to meet his child, or would he turn his back on them like he had before? One thing was for certain - her life was about to get a lot more complicated. As Emily was about to leave for work, her phone rang. She saw the caller ID flash 'Dad,' and she braced herself for another one of his rants. "Emily," he barked, skipping any form of greeting. "Your mother told me the news. You're pregnant and with no husband or fiancé? You're an embarrassment!" Her heart sank at his words, but she couldn't help feeling a surge of anger. "Dad, it takes two people to make a baby," she retorted. "Where's your lecture for the man involved?" He scoffed. "Typical. You always have an excuse." Emily gritted her teeth. "I don't need your lectures, Dad. I'll take care of this baby on my own." Her father scoffed again. "Oh please, don't try to act like you are taking responsibility now. You have always been a disappointment to me, and this is just the icing on the cake." Emily rolled her eyes. She had been dreading this conversation. "Dad, I didn't plan for this to happen. But I'm going to take care of my baby, with or without your support." "Don't you dare talk back to me!" Her father barked. "You're on your own with this one. I won't be helping you at all." Emily felt a fire ignite inside of her. How dare he talk to her like this? "You know what, Dad? I don't need your help. I'm going to raise my child to be a strong, independent person, unlike you!" There was a long pause on the other end of the line, and Emily knew she had hit a nerve. "Is that so?" her father sneered. "Well, good luck with that. You'll regret not listening to me when things get tough." With a slam of the phone, the call was over. Emily felt her blood boil with anger. She couldn't believe her father had the audacity to speak to her like that. But she was determined to prove him wrong and raise her child without his help. As she lay on her bed, tears streaming down her face, her cat jumped up and smacked her with his paw. Emily couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of it all. "Thanks for the support, Puff Puff," she said, wiping away her tears. "At least someone around here has got my back." Later in the Evening, Puff Puff was curled up on Emily's lap as she sat on Rachel's couch, scrolling through Netflix. She was feeling down, and even the thought of a B-Movie couldn't lift her spirits. Her dad's words from yesterday kept echoing in her mind, and it was hard to shake them off. Rachel noticed her mood and asked, "What's got you so sad, Em?" Emily took a deep breath and told her about her conversation with her dad, how rude and arrogant he was when he found out, she got pregnant out of wedlock. Rachel's eyes widened, and she said, "Are you kidding me? That's so outdated! He needs to get with the times." Emily chuckled at her response, "I wish it was that easy, Rach." Rachel put her arm around her and said in a funny voice, "Well, if he can't accept you for who you are, then he can't be your favorite dad anymore. That title goes to your cat now." Puff Puff meowed as if agreeing with Rachel's statement, and she couldn't help but laugh. "You know what, you're right. Puff Puff is the better dad," she said, scratching his ears. Rachel and Emily settled on a romantic comedy, and they spent the rest of the night laughing and munching on popcorn. For a little while, she forgot about her dad's disapproval and just enjoyed the company of her best friend and furry little sidekick.
