Piper sipped her now cold herbal tea. Shifting in her uncomfortable chair, she glanced away from the dark eyes of William Randall. There were details she didn’t tell her boss at the Globe or include in her articles. But there were also details she would never share with another person. What happened between her and Jesse was personal. Her gaze wandered the office. The lack of furniture or decoration was noticeable, and her attention settled on the occasional pedestrian traffic outside the wall of windows.
