“Thanks for meeting with me,” Jesse said as he joined Wayne Rogers, a PI and former colleague, in a booth at a downtown café.
“Good to see you,” Wayne said, and held out a hand. As he gripped Jesse’s, he studied his friend. “Married life suits you. Congratulations, by the way, on the little Elkhorn about to make an appearance.”
Jesse couldn’t stop the smile. “Yes, it does. And thanks. We still have a few months to go.”
“When are you going to have a party so your friends can ogle that house you bought on the water?”
Now Jesse laughed. “Soon.”
Wayne sipped his coffee, checked his phone, then turned his dark eyes to Jesse. “What can I help you with?”
