CONFRONTATION

   "I am so sorry to interrupt you guys" the doctor said as he eyed his cousin Prince George, "Just wanted to know how the patient is doing" he said as he took Ugonma's hand to check her pulse, as he observed the blood bag dripping and about to finish,  " But from all indication, I can see that she is doing well" he said as he removed the empty blood bag. After a careful observation of his patient he told her" The nurse will bring you lunch and your medications, do you want any thing special to eat? he inquired as he turned to leave. " Fried rice with chicken please and if you don't mind, a cup of ice cream" Ugonma said softly, thinking, I might as well enjoy myself now that the storm is over, or is it? The doctors reply brought her back as he said  "I will see to it that you get what you want ok?"  " Thank you so much" she said. " Your welcome " the doctor said and turning to his cousin he said " I will be in the office if you need me for any thing"  " Sure" George said as he lifted Ugonma's hand, and stroking it gently, he said in a whisper as he bent so close to her head" Am dieing to know your name, I bet it will be as beautiful as you are"  "Princes Ugonma" she whispered back. He sprang up on his feet " Princess?" he inquired with his voice loosing all the huskiness. "I will be back, eat your food, make sure you take your medication" he dashed off leaving Ugonma gaping at the door. 

    He was so furious that if it where to be another person that inflicted this pain on this princess, he could strangle the person with his bare hands.He drove so fast that the tyres screeched making his cousin to run out only to see the tale light of his car as he sped off. The  doctor went to the ward and asked the patient what happened, she shrugged and said gently " He is coming back" the doctor frowning, went back to his office while Ugonma pondered upon what has just happened. One minute he was so cool and loving, the next he was so angry, what did I do wrong or does he not like my being a princess? He probably thought I was lieing looking at my present condition. She sighed " I don't blame him if he never comes back, it was too good to be true" she said. Now that he is not here, her head cleared off and she realized this is an opportunity for her to escape. She quickly called a nurse, " please I need to make a call"  "Ok" the nurse said just as her lunch was brought in. She ate the food so fast, "Gosh am so hungry" she said. She sighed as she remembered that this is the best meal she has eaten for the past six months plus, she finished and licked her ice cream, it was fantastic. Just then the nurse came with her medication and as she took her medication, she was about asking the nurse about the phone when the doctor rushed in handing her a phone. "Hello Princess" it was him, her heart leapt for joy, thank God, he did not abandon me she thought, "Hello" she responded not knowing what to call him since she did not know his name. " Am sorry to have left abruptly like that, I just wanted to sort some things out with my dad, I  am  mad at him so I couldn't let you see all that anger and risk making you cry, please my princess, I will see you in an hours time ,ok" "Ok" she whispered into the phone as he hung up.

     The prince got to the palace, he didn't bother to park well as he threw the key to the guard to repack. Where is my dad he asked the palace maid, " The king has not been down since you left" she said. George quickly climbed the stair case, two at a time to get to his fathers chambers, he was panting by the time he got to his room. He badged inn as he asked in an angry tone upon seeing the king seated and sipping a brandy " Did you know she was a princess?" The king nodded in the affirmative " Gosh dad, your mean, what did she do to deserve that kind of punishment?" The king sighed and shaking his head with deep sorrow said "Its a long story son" " Am all ears dad" he decided to seat and hear him out. The king cleared his throat and said " I had a friend when I was studying in the USA, I was planning to marry her as soon as we graduated but my best friend beat me to it and proposed to her first. I was so bitter until I mate your mum and when we married and had children my joy new no bounds and I forgot all about my heartbreak and disappointment. One day, that my childhood friend, now a king just like me came to borrow money from me, at first I did not want to give it to him but when I told your mum she persuaded me to give him the money , which I did. The money was 10 million dollars  "Yes?" the prince interjected. " About 7 months ago, the king my friend died with out repaying me my money. The last wife called me and told me the family has agreed to give me the princess as a wife in exchange for my money"  "Gosh dad, she is you daughters mate and your best friend's daughter, not forgetting the daughter of you first love, how could you, an innocent child" George said with so much disgust but the king continued as if he has at last found a soul to off load all the weight of guilt he has been carrying. " I saw that as an opportunity to get back at both Leo and Peace but above all I thought I could father more children through her. She rejected me and told me over her dead body, I locked her up so she will not run away hoping she will change her mind if she experienced some hardship but the worst is that the family are looking for her and the step mother has denied having anything to do with her and now looking at her present condition, am finished" " Dad you are wicked, you brought this on yourself, am ashamed of you" he stormed out.
