Having the baby daddy of the unborn child in my womb in my town was one thing. Having him stay at my family home and having conversations with my parents, the same parents who knew nothing about the surrogacy, was another thing. I spent the entire dinner waiting for the other shoe to drop, for Eddie to out our arrangement and set forth world war four between myself and my mother. This was definitely one life choice that she definitely wouldn’t be able to get over. She had wanted a grandchild for years. I couldn’t imagine what she would do if she found out that I had signed her first one away.
