Chapter 2

761 Words
Valentino’s POV It’s been 10 years since I moved to New Draven and 5 years since I took over the Lords of Draven. I’m known as the King of Draven to everyone around the city, but I let my men call me king or boss. Only my right-hand man and best friend since I moved here, Owen, is allowed to call me by my name when we’re alone or just hanging out. Owen knows about everything that happened with Sophia, and he has been helping me keep track of what she’s been up to. At first, he was confused as to why I would go through all of this trouble for one woman. Once I told him that Sophia is the only woman I have ever loved and I need to make sure she’s safe, he understood why I have been going through such drastic measures. Any one of my men would think that I’m being a crazy stalker, but they know in our business, her knowing me and my father puts her in danger, even if she doesn’t know it.I wanted to reveal myself to her many times, but I knew I couldn’t. The day I got wind that she was attending college here, I made sure I enrolled in the same college and classes and made sure to keep my head down and always stay a distance from her, so she wouldn’t notice me. Seeing guys with her was worse torture than what I dish out to my enemies. I wanted to f**k up each guy who talked to her, but I refrained from doing so. I don’t get my hands dirty over little s**t, but I did get them dirty when I beat up the guys who hurt her or disrespected her. I own a high-rise building downtown, and I live in the penthouse apartment. So, of course, when I found out she left the guy she was living with, I had Owen’s wife, Carmen, go to her school as a client and tell her that she was looking for someone to sell her condo apartment to because she is moving. When Sophia told her that the cost is too much, they came to an agreement of classes and free makeovers in return for Sophia living in the condo apartment. When I offered Carmen some cash for getting Sophia’s agreement, she declined and stated that her getting free classes and makeovers is more than enough. The last week has been full of meetings with gang leaders to make sure they are abiding by the new rules I implemented. There was no way I was going to allow r**e or harm to innocent women and children. Most of them agreed to it, being that they have families. I implement no drug deals. I would prefer to only get my hands dirty f*****g up people who f**k with Sophia, but they don’t call me The King for no reason. I earned my position and title by not taking s**t from anyone and doing what I have to do. Don’t get me wrong, I prefer not to do this, but this is a dog-eat-dog world; you have to get your rivals before they can get you. “Sir, what’s the plan? Asks Owen. “Same thing we always do, O. We go in, give them a chance to change their mind after taking out their security, and if they reject, we cap them. The clean- up crew will then come in and clean up the mess.” “Sure thing, sir,” he replies before turning to the other men.Within minutes, all of this arrogant f***s security are tied up with my men standing guard, and their leader, Al, is at his desk with a gun to the side of his head. “Al, you know how this goes. Do you agree to the new way of doing things around here?” I ask in a stern voice. “f**k you, king! I’m not changing s**t. I am older than you, boy. I’m not having any of your new way bullshit!” “Is that your final answer, Al?” “I’ll rather die than see this city go soft!” “Your wish is granted. I’ll make sure your family gets whatever money my men find around here,” I state before shooting him in the middle of his forehead. As we walk out, I place my gun back on my waistband. “Fellas, kill whoever refuses to join us or retire.” “Yes, sir,” they respond in unison.
