Chapter Four: The pool and The Pull

Emery POV

     We woke up the next morning excited to go see Axel and Kasey. Yes, and I mean both of us. I weirdly missed Axel for some reason. I had a very s****l dream about him last night making it hard not to think about him this morning. My skin craved his touch and I couldn’t keep my mind from going to those dirty images sending shock waves and need to my core. Whatever is was about him made me crazy.

     Once we were ready at two I made my way towards Axels house. He sent me the address and time this morning which made my heart flutter but I didn’t say anything. It was only about a twenty-five minute drive from the city and it was very beautiful. The bright red dirt littered the road and was dusted all around the trees. With sand and grass scattered every once and awhile. When we pulled up to the large gated entrance we were greeted by a man standing there asking for our names. I quickly replied not wanted to start trouble and he immediately smiled widely at me before opening the gate for us.  The house was so big that you couldn’t see the whole thing. It was definitely a mansion with at least four stories up. The roof was black metal which complimented the light and deep gray gray that painted the outside walls. Two stair cases lead to the main entrance on either side in the middle with a beautiful covered porch and access to the second landing above it. The windows had cute little covers over them with the same type of roof and light tan shutters that matched the trim. The dark wood doors looked hand crafted and expensive.

     When I pulled the car up to the turn around that was directly in front of the doors, I parked the car and started to get out when my door is suddenly opened for me. I looked up surprised by the action and noticed Axel standing there in swim trunks, a bro tank and flip flops. “You guys made it!” He smiled lending me a hand to help stand up out of the car. 

     “Yeah, it was a beautiful drive.” I answered honestly with a slight blush spreading on my cheeks as images of last nights dreamed flashed in my brain from just looking at him. 

      “Not as beautiful as you.” He stated which just made it even more awkward so when I went to help Eli out of the car I noticed Kasey already helping him out. Opening the back door I leaned down grabbing our bag of towels, sunscreen and spare clothes. I sadly didn’t have any extra time to pick up any pool toys but I tried to not dwell on it for too long. Axels voice grabbed my attention, “Hey buddy! You ready to go swimming?” he asked Eli who came running around the car and jumped into Axels arms excitedly. It was weirdly perfect seeing him hold Eli. 

     “Im so excited and so is mommy!” Eli stated as he wrapped his arms around Axels neck. Axel looked over at me surprised that I was excited to swim but he didn’t understand that I used to be a competitive swimmer in high school. Well that was what I was telling myself I was excited about. 

     “Oh really? What are you both most excited about?” He asked while he grabbed the bag from my hands still carrying Eli as he walked to the main entrance. 

     “Well Kasey said there was a twisty slide?” Eli sang as he acted out going down the slide with his arms in the air. “And mommy loves to swim to the bottom of the pool. She can hold her breath for forever!”  Which just made me giggle.

     “Wow well I gotta be honest, I can probably hold my breath longer.” Axel teased. He looked at Eli with a silly face with his cheeks blown up like he was holding his breath making Eli laugh. 

     They continued arguing on who could do the coolest tricks and how fast they could swim as I walked behind them both admiring the sight of a real man playing with Eli. My thoughts quickly shot to Damion before I pushed them back as far as possible. I could let myself think of him. Yes he’s Eli’s father but he was never his dad. 

    I knew it wasn’t smart to think like this but all I could see was a positive father figure in Eli’s life. He needed it, no, he craved it and it was obvious already that he loved Axel.

     I was lost in my thoughts again when I heard the earth shattering scream that sent my mom instincts into overdrive. I immediately ran towards the scream when I saw Eli running towards me excited screaming again. I placed my hand over my heart as I tried to calm my breathing again while Eli ran to me jumping into my arms saying something about diving boards. I made my self giggle as I kissed the top of his head and made my way out the back doors. 

     I lifted my eyes to see the ginormous wooden deck that lead to the olympic sized swimming pool. Across from where we were standing was a gigantic swirly slide and at the far left end of the pool was three different heights of diving boards. The deck wrapped around the pool until it ended on the far side with sides the width of the pool leading to multiple basketball courts, soccer/football fields and even a huge playground. At the very end of the property I could see a beach access walk that lead to the water. I felt like my eyes were as wide as saucers staring at the beautiful and expensive home. “Mommy isn’t this so cool?!?” Eli yelled again bringing me out of my amazement as he wiggled out of my hold to run back to the guys standing at the large table to the left of the main deck area. 

     I followed Eli cautiously trying not to show my excitement but my eyes were still star struck. “What do you think?” Axel asked.

     “Wow.” Was all I could muster causing Axel and Kasey to laugh.

     “Would you like something to drink? We got a little bit of everything but Sophia makes an amazing Miami vice.” He asked sincerely. 

     “Ummm… that would be great actually.” I smiled nervously not really knowing how to handle myself at a millionaires home.

     Before another word was spoken a sweet little older lady came out carrying a drink tray smiling. I smiled back while she made her way to us. “Hello! Im Sophia, if you need anything please just ask. I brought you one of my famous cocktails and the boys their drinks.Food will be ready in about two hours or so.” She stated handing me my drink and making her way back inside. I took a nervous sip of my drink and moaned at the contents. It hardly tasted like there was any alcohol in it. Basically like a fresh strawberry slushy. I looked up to see Axels eyes on me while they turned darker. I suddenly felt self conscious and put the drink down to get ready to hand in the pool.

     Eli started running towards the pool making me slightly nervous because no one was ready to get in with him. “Sweetie wait for a grown up.” I said as I stripped off my sun dress and tossed it on the chair our bag was on while pulling out two towels for each of us. Luckily he stopped when I said and waited patiently for me to join him. 

     When we made it to the edge of the pool we held hands and counted to three before jumping in together. We both came back up to the surface giggling before we saw the boys watching us. I turned around to s***h Eli when I heard loud foot steps running in our direction. Looking up both men were running quickly before cannon balling over our heads and into the water. Eli laughed and splashed with them when Kasey picked him up from under the water and put him on his shoulders. I could already tell that Kasey and Eli would become very good friends because he always made sure Eli was having fun. 

     I continued to tread water and admiring the cool water around me when I felt a slightly tug on my foot. Looking down I saw Axel grabbed both of my legs and pull me underwater playfully. We both came back up laughing. I got an evil thought when I swam towards him and gently placed both of my hands on his shoulders and stared deeply into his eyes. So he didn’t expect it when I dunked him under water with the force of my whole body on top of him. When he came back up he spit the water out with both hands in front of him, “I surrender, you win!” He laughed.

     We continued like that for awhile. Watching Eli bounce around from playing water basket ball, then going to the slide, then the diving boards, and finally starting all over again. I didn’t even feel like it had been two and a half hours when Sophia announced that dinner was ready. We were starving and thankfully she made enough food for an army. We all started eating while Eli talked on and on about his pruny fingers and all other things until he accidentally said something that made my heart stop. 

     “Dad always said that I could swim like a fish in the bath tub but he never came to any of my swim lessons.” He shrugged innocently. Axel glanced over at me now with a worried glance but I just continued to each my cheeseburger silently. Once he was done with his food Eli and Kasey took back off towards the pool while Axel and I sat back watching them and sipping on our drinks.

     “You know you raised an amazing kid emery.” Axel whispered in my ear sending a shiver down my spine. Another flash back from my dream comes quick as I think about him nibbling on my ear and kissing down my neck. 

     “I don’t know how, he’s just always been this way. Im truly blessed.” I reply trying to shake off the blush that warmed my body.

     “Well he is just like his mother.” Axel laughs lightly. He hasn’t taken his eyes off me but I haven’t had the heart to turn a meet them. “Emery, you are an amazing mother. Anyone can see that.” His sweet compliment made the butterflies in my stomach flurry. 

     I finally turned my head to meet his beautiful dark brown eyes and I saw the honesty they held. I smiled genuinely at him, “Thank you axel.” I whisper shyly but the joy on my face didn’t waver. 

     “Don't thank me for telling the truth. Now I don’t understand how you do it. That boy never loses momentum.” We both laugh as I shake my head.

     ‘I know right? He’s always been a little ball of energy.” I giggle

     “Most pups are.” He laughs back but I sat slightly confused. Did he just say pups? Maybe I just misheard him.

     Before I could even question him Eli came running up to me soaking wet, shivering and pruney. He still had a huge smile on his face but I could see in his eyes that he was tired. “Come here honey.” I cooed as I pulled the largest towel around him and cuddled into him. 

     “Mommy, Kasey asked if we wanted to join them for a movie in their home theater? Can we?” Eli asked not even bothering to wait before he gave me the big puppy dog eyes which were even more adorable because of his shivers.  

     I kiss Elis head and look into Axels eyes sweetly. “Only if it’s ok with Axel?”

     Axels large smile shined brighter while his pearly whites sparkled. “It would be my pleasure!” He beamed. Making my smile grow bigger.

     “Lets go change first Eli, then we can help them pick a movie.” I grab our bag when it was pulled from my hands gently.

     “I can show you both where to change.” Now he had a mischievous look in his eyes. 

     I nod in response as we both followed Axel into the house. When we first came in I hardly noticed the inside of the house because I was so distracted but now seeing it, it was gorgeous. Exposed wooden beams shown from the tall ceilings littered with elegant but modern light fixtures. The walls were a soft gray with off white trim just like the outside of the house. Decor was scattered on the walls with no personal touches or pictures oddly enough. The dark hardwood floors were beautifully matched the beams and the earthy black furniture were perfectly placed. 

     When I found myself walking down a smaller hallway I watched as Axel and Eli were laughing together about some joke. It truly made me smile. “Here bud, you can change in here.” Axel says when he points to a bathroom he’s standing in front of. Eli runs up to him to grab his clothes and saying thank you as he takes back off into the room. 

     “I have another bathroom down the hall, come.” Axel states when Eli shuts the door. Reaching his hand out for me to take which I surprisingly did. 

     We stopped in front of the next bathroom door and I silently waited for Axel to hand me the bag. My eyes were casted on the ground though trying not to make it awkward but when another second or so pasted by I finally brought my eyes up to meet his. Before I couldn’t react because I suddenly was captured by the most intoxicating lips. He softly moved them with mine as a soft moan left me without my permission. His hands were on my hips as Axel pushed me into the bathroom and he shut the door with his foot. The lights were off and it was dark but I could feel and sense every move he made. Touching my exposed arms, thighs, neck and stomach. Sending fireworks all throughout my body.

     I have no clue what took over me, maybe it was from the lack of attention from my past or maybe it was my libido finally catching up to me but I was on fire with lust and the only one who could put me out was Axel. 

     He placed his hands under my butt, lifting me up and setting me down on what I believe is the counter top. Our lips never separated, mixed with our moans and gasps. Axel started to kiss down my neck sending my body into a whole new type of pleasure, Nipping, kissing and sucking until he reached the nape of my neck. “Axel” I moan out as I throw my head back in ecstasy.

     “God I love when my name comes from your lips.” He growls. My head was so foggy and I couldn’t focus on one thing  happening until I heard a light knock on the door interrupting our make-out session.

     “Mommy, Im done can I go to the theater now?” Eli asked from the other side of the door as Axel and I sat quietly taking in deep needed breathes to calm down.

     “Thats fine baby, Uhhh… find Kasey or wait by the hall for me.” I said but before I finished my sentence I heard Eli and Kaseys voices walking away. I breathed out a sigh of relief before I realized the situation I was in. 

     Pushing Axel away from me I quickly got up off the counter and made my way to the wall to find a light switch. When I did I glanced at the grinning Axel standing before me. I blush nervously at the thought of what just happened and ran my hands over my face. “Axel… That can’t happen, I-I can’t…” I started to mumble barley able to form a sentence. Tears now prickling at my eyes.

     Axel stood there shocked by my statement and if what I saw in his eyes waste then also a little bit hurt. Swiping his hand through his hair he closed his eyes as he took deep calming breathes. “Im so sorry Emery, I just… I don’t know what came over me…” He sighed looking helpless. 

     “Its not completely your fault, I didn’t exactly stop you. Just with Eli right now and everything that’s happened I… I have to protect myself and I can’t do that by leaning on you.” I gave him more information than I would have liked but I fell like I needed him to  understand why I was doing what I was doing. 

    Axel slowly came up to me like approaching a wounded animal and intertwined his hands with mine. “Why do you need to protect yourself? Why does it have to be this way?” 

     “I just do ,ok?” I huffed trying to pull his hands from mine but he didn’t budge. “Can I get dressed please?” I asked not being able to make eye contact with Axel. 

     “Yes of course, I’m sorry again emery but I hope soon you’ll be able to trust in me.” He says sweetly which almost makes the waterfall of tears fall but I luckily held it in. 

I knew if I respond then I would probably start crying so I just nod and take back my hands, moving myself away from the door way. 

     Axel still seemed hurt and now even worried but I didn’t indulge in it too much when I started busying myself with getting a few of my items out of the bag. I turn around to a surprise of axel standing in front of me so I lift my head as he plants a soft kiss right on my temple before he walks out of the bathroom closing the door. 

     My head was a mess and obviously so was my heart. How do I let a guy like that down after all he’s done for Eli and I. I barley know the guy for f***s sake and I let him grope me in the bathroom with Eli on the other side of the door. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!?

     I sat on the toilet now completely defeated. My face buried my face in my hands grunting at my stupidity. I let my feelings take control and the only thing that was thinking was my v****a! When was the last time I let that happen? Honestly never. Not even with Damian.

     Would it be so bad if I gave Axel a chance? No. I have spent too much time building this wall and I wasn’t going to let it happen. Not now, not ever. Quickly getting up making my decision I started to get dressed into my light washed jean shorts and a long sleeved white t-shirt. Brushing out my still damp hair I get most of the nots out before tossing it into a top knot. Packing up everything easily I made my way out of the bathroom. 

     I honestly had no idea where I was going but I followed the sounds of Eli’s giggles and eventually made it to a large room with a projector shining on the wall. Sitting on the couch were Kasey on one side of Eli then Axel sitting on the other side. “Hey mommy, Look! They have a popcorn machine and a bunch of candy just for this room to watch movies! Isn’t that the coolest!” I walked up ruffling Eli’s hair and look at the giant bucket of popcorn and candy in his hands. I send a glare to both boys who just shrugged at me making me roll my eyes. 

     “Thats looks very yummy baby, just not too much candy ok? Did you guys pick a movie?” I ask while Axel scoots over on the couch to give me room to sit between him and Eli. I sit down as Eli goes on and on about the movie they picked out which was Zootopia, one of his favorites. We’ve seen it a million times but he still loved it which I guess I can’t complain too bad because it was pretty good. 

     As the movie continued on I noticed Eli and Kasey laughing at each others little comments. While they were both distracted I notice Axel laying his arm over my shoulders causing my skin to heat up again. His finger tips tickling my far shoulder sending tingles down my body. My breath catches as I glance at Eli to make sure he didn’t notice but he is too deep into the conversation to even care. 

     As I looked over I felt Axels warm breath warming my neck, “Im sorry emery, I hope you still trust me…” He whispers for only me to hear.

    Turning my face to his, our faces almost nose to nose , I carefully whisper. “Axel its fine, just- forget it ok. I just can’t.” I shrug grabbing his hand and pulling it over my head and placing it on his lap. I made sure not to look into his eyes because I knew what I was going to see in them. It hurt me too but I couldn’t risk putting anyone else in danger. 

     The rest of the movie continued in silence even from Kasey and Eli but I knew it was because Eli finally fell asleep. No one bothered to turn off or change the movie though, we just continued to watch until the ending credits rolled. Kasey got up and gave his goodnights before walking out to his bedroom. Leaving a sleeping Eli, Axel and I.

     “Emery…” Axel started but I couldn’t anymore, I needed to get Eli and I home. Im completely exhausted.

     “No axel.” I huff quickly before he could get another word out. “Just friends.” 

     Axel smirk slightly but I could still see the hurt in his eyes. “I was just going to ask if you want help carrying him to your car?” 

     “Oh” I felt terrible now, I mentally facepalmed myself. “Yes, if you wouldn’t mind?”

     With that we both got up while I started cleaning up the candy rappers and popcorn bucket. Axel lifted Eli easily and we both made our way out towards the front door. When we made it to my car Axel place Eli in his seat, then I buckled him in, and carefully shut the door to not wake him up. 

     “Thank you for coming over Emery, it was a lot of fun.” Axel said nervously and rubbed the back of his neck with his hand.

     “Thank you for having us, your house is so beautiful and I know Eli had an amazing time.” I smile trying to make the conversation less awkward.

     “And you?” He asked now looking into my eyes taking a small step to me. 

     “And me what?” I ask confused.

     “Did you have an amazing time?” He chuckles as he takes another step.

     I smile back a little relieved. “I truly did.” 

     “You ok to drive?” He stocks towards me. Something in me wanted me to get closer too him too but I stayed frozen in my spot.

     “Y-yeah its a short drive so it won’t be too bad.” I nod. At this point he’s almost pushing me against the car.

     “Emery…” He starts to say again but I lose total control. I grab his t-shirt and pull him into me pressing my lips on mine. His hands cage me inbetween the car while his body presses into me. The kiss was electric and I was a little starstruck. Our mouths moved together in unison as I felt my hands on his perfect chest and abs wanting to touch every inch. 

     When Axel licked my lower lip asking her entrance that’s when I came out of my trance. I pulled my face back and pushed on his chest now needing distance. “Im sorry, I have no idea what came over me.” We were both breathing heavy but obviously Axel wasn’t bothered by it which almost made me roll my eyes.

     “I feel it too…” he whispered quietly with an all knowing smile which just made me even more confused. “Goodnight, mi cielito.” my heart sped up as his words as yet another blush stains my face. 

     I slowly walk to the other side of the car to get into the drivers seat and before I stepped in I looked axel in the eyes. “Goodnight” I whisper,

     Not being able to pull my eyes from his glowing grey orbs he added, “Please text me when you make it home? I just want to know if you made it safe.” He asked sweetly. 

     “Will do.” I giggle when I lean down into the car. Buckling up and starting it I began to drive out of the drive way. I honestly didn’t want to go, I felt safe here for some reason. 

     The ride went by quicker than I anticipated, after I got Eli in bed and I was ready to completely knock out I sent Axel a text.

Home safe and sound. Thank you again for everything <3 

     I didn’t have to wait long for a response because as I was plugging my charger in my phone pinged again.

Good, Now sweet dreams beautiful.

     My heart skipped again, putting my phone down on the side table and turning off the lamp light. Leaning over I kissed Eli’s forehead and turned over to fall asleep. I think about everything that’s happened finally deciding that I was going to figure out what I wanted with Axel tomorrow. Letting sleep take over and falling into another dream about those deep grey eyes.
