9- Blake

My eyes went to the side mirror as I watched them leave, the smile on my face dying down. I want to kill him. I drove faster. My car got me out of the territory in minutes before I pulled into the nearest hotel in the city and walked out of my car. A valet rushed to me and I threw my car key at him. “Send it to the Iron Clad compound. Say it’s a gift for my fiancée,” He was stammering something but I didn’t listen to what he was saying. I walked into the hotel, pulling out my phone and entering the elevator. “Hello, Margot,” Her Russian voice hit sharp like ice. “You are late for your meeting,” The doors shut close. “You can start it without me.” “I’m not the one that promised middle aged men going through a midlife crisis that they could do crime legally and be rest assured of the lives of their children and subsequent generations to come. You did. Come. Here.” The elevator doors opened, revealing my secretary and confidant, Margot Kozlov. She had blond hair and sharp blue eyes that always managed to cool me down when I stared at them. I stepped out. “Be more careful how you speak to me, my future wife is not going to like you talking to me that way. She’s quite territorial from what I understand. And bossy,” She stepped in front of me. “Are you really marrying Remus Calloway?” I looked at her, craning my head slightly. “You refused to enter a relationship with me, Margot. I’m desperate enough to seek a replacement though of course, no one will ever be as thorough as you,” Then walked past. The moment I got into the conference room, seven pairs of eyes fell on me. I took off my jacket and smiled briskly at them. “Are we ready for the meeting?” “You’re late—” “You’re early,” I said and propped into my seat, smiling widely at them. “Ready?” ——————— I fiddled with the serpent ring on my finger. My thoughts going back to Remy Calloway. She looked tragically small, but with a nice figure that complimented everything else about her. Small but sharp mouth, cold but inviting eyes… Everything about her called me. Maybe because I liked my women a little unhinged so I could break them afterwards but who cared? The meeting droned on for hours. I said nothing, thinking about the pretty woman that leaned into my window, blood on her chest and her brown eyes staring at me like she was used to getting her way. What was she like? What did she want? What could I give her? “The meeting is over and you said nothing.” Margot’s voice had me looking up. She was hovering over me, her forehead furrowed and her arms crossed. “Jesus, we’ve worked far too hard for you to—” I pulled her into my lap. She froze, her usually icy demeanor cracking for a minute before it returned. “Blake.” I grinned, my hands still on her waist. “It’s fine. You know I don’t bite if you don’t want me to… Do you want me to?” She adjusted her glasses and sighed, looking away, “You’re engaged. To the person who put your brother in a coma. What makes you think she’s safe?” I thought about it for a moment. “Because she strangely seemed worried about me getting hurt on her territory when she had no idea who I was? And my stepbrother—” I correct, ignoring how she rolled her eyes. “Must have got it coming. I’m just f*****g glad it wasn’t me—” Margot shot off my lap. I stared at the empty space, a small chuckle nearly left my lips at how hard I was. “Your Father is still going to have your head. You know that?” I stood with my whiskey, walking to the glass walls overlooking the city. “Does it matter?” “Blake—” I looked at her. “Would you run away with me? Right now. He’d never find us. I have some places—” “No. You’re drunk.” I laughed. “One glass, Margot.” But she was already walking away. “I have things to do, and I need to clean up your mess. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Before I could say anything, she was gone and I was alone. I took a sip from my glass, staring at the sky now before pulling out my phone and making a call. “Hello, little mole,” The voice on the other end didn’t sound happy. “Don’t f*****g call me that.” I took a sip of my whiskey. “But that’s what you are, aren’t you?” “What do you want?” I leaned against the glass. “Where is Remy Calloway?” “With Decker Kane,” My grip on the glass hardened. “Doing what?” “I told you, she’s a Prospect and he’s her sponsor.” “So he’s not f*****g her?” “What? No. He finds her irritating. She’s always… she’s always followed me around since she was a kid, he’s always kept his distance. Cole basically forced him to take her up and make her want to marry you.” I paused and then laughed. Tears streamed out of my eyes that I wiped away. “So he’s supposed to bully her into my arms?” “I guess so? She’s a handful,” Of course she is. “Hey, little mole,” The voice on the other end sighed. “What?” “Send me a picture of her. Preferably without her knowing.” “What? Isn’t that like… stalking?” “You’re betraying your own club, I don’t know what to tell you,” I swirled the whiskey in my glass. “Plus, she’d want me to jerk off to it. And I plan on doing so. As an apology for whatever she thinks happened last night,” There was silence then quietly, “What the f**k did you do to her? I told you—” I ended the call and looked out into the street now, a soft sigh leaving my lips, “I wonder what she’d do if I hurt him. Would she run away with me? Would she hate me? Would she f**k me right here where anyone who looked high enough could see her?” My phone buzzed. I looked at it. An old picture of Calloway but she looked… happy. Her face and eyes were brighter. I let my thumb move over it, a smile coming to my lips. “I think we can work with each other, Remy. Only problem is how far you’re willing to go to make this work,”
