Charlotte looked taken aback to see the woman Teddy Hudson had brought home to their matrimonial house. This house had been given to Teddy and her as a wedding gift from Alpha Lucas Hudson. After the night Charlotte accepted Teddy as her husband and chosen mate, Alpha Lucas gifted them the new duplex as their matrimonial home. For four years, Charlotte had been living with Teddy and helping him rule the Norfield packs, and ever since he took over the Alpha position from his father, Teddy hadn't brought any other woman home. But today, on their marriage anniversary and Charlotte's 22nd birthday, Teddy returned with another woman in his arms—a fair-skinned woman.
"Can't you greet?" Teddy demanded, his green eyes glowering at Charlotte, snapping her out of her trance.
"Um, good evening. Who is she?" Charlotte immediately asked Teddy, her eyes moving to stare at the young woman of her age, dressed in a seductive crimson gown.
"Do you just ask me who she is?" Teddy let go of the woman in his arms and drunkenly charged at Charlotte.
Seizing Charlotte by her neck, Teddy shouted, "She's the rightful Luna of this pack, the woman who is supposed to be my wife and chosen mate, if not for the fact that you bewitched my father into accepting you as the fake Luna and my mate!" He squeezed her neck, trying to choke the life out of her.
"Teddy..." Charlotte's voice trailed off as she struggled to prevent her husband from suffocating her. She gasped for breath, desperately trying to break free from Teddy's iron grip on her soft neck, but he wouldn't let go.
"Baby, don't kill her here. That would implicate us, including you," a soft voice said, prompting Teddy to finally release Charlotte. She coughed and moved away from the beast of a husband she had married.
With tears in her eyes, Charlotte looked from Teddy to the lady who had just spoken, disbelief written all over her face. "You're right, Anne. If I kill her here, my father would find out, and that would truly implicate us. Come, let me show you to our bedroom upstairs."
"Teddy!" Charlotte jumped in front of the stairs in the living room. "You cannot take this w***e to our bedroom! Take her out immediately!" Charlotte ordered Teddy, whose anger boiled as he heard her refer to Anne Roberts as a w***e.
"What? Who did you call a w***e? Honey, did you hear her speaking? I had been your mate even before you accepted this swine as your wife! I don't want to see her in this house. Get rid of her! She should stay outside of our home!" Anne said, bursting into tears.
Teddy rushed toward Charlotte, dragging her away from the stairs while wearing a white shirt and black pants. Some of his shirt buttons were left undone. "Who did you call a w***e? My mate?" Teddy charged at Charlotte, and in front of Anne, he removed his trouser belt and began flogging her. The maids working in the mansion could only peek at the scene, as none dared to intervene during Teddy and Charlotte's marital disputes. Teddy had warned them that if any of the maids reported him to his father, he would have them killed.
"Teddy! Stop, I'm sorry!" Charlotte cried, but in the wee hours of the night, Teddy continued to flog her while Anne smiled sweetly.
"That's enough, sweetie. Come take me to our bedroom. I need to rest, as I'm tired for the night," Anne said, observing how Teddy mercilessly punished Charlotte.
Satisfied with how he disciplined Charlotte, Teddy let go of the woman crying on the tiled floor and walked up to Anne, using one hand to clutch his trouser that had loosened from removing his belt. Anne smiled and embraced Teddy. "Good boy," she told him, kissing him in front of Charlotte.
"Come take me upstairs. I'm tired and cannot wait to have you," Anne said sweetly to Teddy. She had followed him to the neighboring pack function as his Luna, and it was only right that Teddy get rid of Charlotte.
"Teddy, you dare to flog me because of this p********e?" Charlotte stood up again from the tiled floor. She had blue, mesmerizing eyes that glowed even when she cried. Charlotte was pretty, sexy, and curvy, but her dark complexion and the fact that she remained untouched—since Teddy hadn’t consummated their marriage—set her apart.
Teddy's anger surged again at Charlotte’s reference to Anne Roberts as a p********e.
"I see that I haven't disciplined you enough. I'm going to kill you today and bury your corpse before Father arrives. What gives you the right to refer to Anne as a p********e?" Teddy charged toward Charlotte with killing intent in his eyes, but Anne quickly stopped him. "No, baby. Don't kill her; it would implicate us. Come, let us go to the bedroom and make some babies that she's unable to give you. Once we make a baby, I will become the rightful Luna, and your father will have no option but to accept me as your mate and chosen Luna of the packs," Anne said, and Teddy's eyes glowed with admiration at her words.
"You're right. Come, let us go," Teddy said, as he looked away from Charlotte angrily, his gaze moving to Anne, who walked up to him in her black stiletto heels.
Charlotte cried, having worn a pink seductive dress to look sweet for Teddy, but he glared at her with hostility, while he looked at Anne Roberts with love and warmth.
Unable to bear the hurt and betrayal she felt after marrying Teddy Hudson, Charlotte recalled that Teddy had told her Anne was his friend. He introduced Anne to her as his personal assistant, and she felt it was only right to acknowledge Anne, even though she didn’t like the pretty fair-skinned woman.
Charlotte had observed the way Teddy looked sweetly at Anne on numerous occasions when she followed him around. Little did she know that Anne was Teddy's real mate and not just his assistant.
"Teddy! I'm not going to take this! I will end our marriage today and divorce you. I, Charlotte Mateo, reject you, Teddy Hudson, as my husband and mate!"
Teddy's eyes surged with rage as he turned back to Charlotte. Letting go of Anne with a smirk playing on his lips, he walked up to Charlotte, who was shivering and instinctively stepping backward as he approached her. "What gives you the right to think you can divorce me, Charlotte? Are you stupid? Do you think you can walk away from this marriage? Oh, so you want to sabotage my name out there in front of our pack members and to my parents. You wouldn't dare! The way Anne endured and watched you parade yourself as my mate is the way you will endure and watch Anne give birth to my pups." With that, Teddy turned and went upstairs with Anne, leaving Charlotte to burst into tears in the living room.
