Chapter Thirteen

William’s POV:

We got back to London after a month in Russia, it was fun having a vacation, giving me and Ada a break from everything but it was high time we got back to reality,

Ada wanted us to use a portal back but in insisted we use a flight, one normal thing won’t hurt, can’t believe it was Ada’s first time on a plane, it was funny seeing her reaction when the plane took off,

For someone who went skydiving this wasn’t supposed to feel different but then again flying on a plane for the first time could give you goosebumps,

When we finally landed, Ada was glad that we arrived on land but she hid her excitement, she was just relived, anyways we’re back now and it was time to investigate the soul devourer mystery,

I bought a new house since my old one was destroyed by a gas incident, it was just a cover story as we all know that I blew up my own house trying to stop Isabel but it was futile,

My new house was more of an upgrade with some added features, it was renforcered with metal plates and doors that covers the entire building just incase things went south,

Anyways as we got home and settled in, I showed Ada her room and she was excited and surprised at the same time, she wasn’t expecting me to give her own room, guess she still thought this was a temporary alliance but we both knew our bond has grown beyond that,

“Thanks, it’s nice, a little mediocre for my taste but I’ll see what I can do with it”

She said trying to hide her true excitement, I knew she was been sarcastic so I didn’t say anything and went with the flow,

At night time we both came to the sitting room and discussed about our next move, Ada asked me a question that caught me off guard

“William, have you grieved for your mother? I know it’s been a month since she died and your grief was cut short by the moment but after Isabel was dealt with have you actually tried grieving her?”

“Wow okay that was unexpected, I see what you bloody did there, listen I’ve lost a lot in this life, close friends and allies even before all this started, losing Tracy was one of the hardest things to deal with, I was so hurt because I had the power to save her but I didn’t”

I said and sighed before I continued

“I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’ve figured out how to get some kind of closure after losing someone, so yeah I’ve grieved for her in my own way, my mother’s death hit me hard but she’s gone now and her last words were for me to be strong so that’s what I’m doing instead of wallowing in grief I became stronger”

“Well I still think you need closure”

Ada said as she casted a spell and a vase containing my mother’s ash appeared in her hands,

“I was able to find and collect some of your mother’s ash, I wanted to tell you but I didn’t want to ruin our vacation”

She said and I hugged her, I was so happy I get to see some of my mother’s remains as I can now give her a proper funeral,

“Okay that’s enough you’re suffocating me”

Ada said and I let go of her, I took the vase and the next day we both went to the coast, I stepped into the water and as I got to a point, I stopped and said

“I never really knew you that much but from our time together I knew you were a really nice person with a good soul, I really wish you had been part of my life but fate had other things in store for us, I will really miss you mother but as Tracy would say…”

I hesitated for a moment before I continued

“See you in the flip side”

I poured her ashes into the water and tears rolled down my checks, I wiped them off and came out of the water, Ada asked

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah, thanks for giving me closure”

I said and she smiled and then I said

“Now I’ve got a bloody healing service to conduct, let’s go”

We left the coast and went to my healing Sanctuary, To honor of my mum I decided to conduct free healing services for a week, am sure no one would like to miss it,

I healed people and resurrected the dead, on the first day people came and go as I performed miracles for them, I did this for one week and on the very last day of the free promo week, I had one more person to resurrect,

I resurrected her and I was expecting a soul devourer or something but none appeared, it was just a normal resurrection, I closed the service for the day and went to Ada who was in the backstage, nobody was there so I took off the glow and said

“No bloody soul devourers so far, I’ve been at this for a week and all the resurrections I’ve done was clean, no soul devourers”

“I see, so that means it must be something else that’s drawing them to the souls they’re consuming, I still don’t think it’s a coincidence though”

Ada said as she looked worried and puzzled and then I came closer to her and said

“Well whatever it is, we’ll bloody solve it”

A moment later, some officials from the church walked into my sanctuary, the guards tried to stop them but they came through anyway, I was still wearing my white Messiah robe so I activated the glow and went towards them,

They were lead by a priest but he seemed like one of those priests from a secret organization in the church, I met up with them and asked

“How may I be of service?”

“You can stop the act, I know exactly what you are, you don’t fool me”

The priest said and then I asked

“Excuse me but who are you?”

“I am Father Raphael and I’m here to give you a warning, stop all this you’re doing or you’ll have the full might of the church to contend with”

He said as he walked away and those that came in with him followed, I looked at Ada who was standing behind me as she sighed.

When we both got back home, I tried to browse about Father Raphael on my laptop but nothing came up, I decided to access the dark web for more research and I found out he was the leading priest on chasing down supernatural and demonic threats,

His methods were unorthodox but the church kept him because his skills were invaluable to them, there wasn’t much about him on the dark web so I closed my laptop and started thinking,

I grew up in the church were they treated me like some kind of Messiah figure but I ran away and started my own thing, the church weren’t happy about this so they decided to stop my ministry and healing services, of course they failed but that doesn’t give them a reason to send this type of priest after me,

Ada came to me as I was deep in thoughts, she sat beside me and asked

“What’s wrong? Did you find anything about the priest?”

“Yes and it’s disturbing, I couldn’t find much but he’s actually one of those priests that specializes in taking down supernatural and demonic threats”

I answered and she said

“Okay hold on, you grew up in the church and they took you in as a Messiah but you left them to forge your own path so why would they send someone like this to come after you?”

“I don’t know but something ain’t right, they would never send him because I use my powers for personal gain, it’s either they found out something more about me or he’s doing this alone”

I said and Ada asked

“Why would you think he’s working alone?”

“Because once these type of men sees a threat, they won’t stop until that threat is neutralized and by the looks of it he sees me as a threat”

I answered and Ada hesitated for a second to analyze what I just said then she asked

“But why come warn you when he could have just done what he always does?”

“Probably he sees me as an equal, something that he has never gone up against so he warns me in order to fight me at my best”

I said and Ada just sighed and said

“Well if he’s coming after you that means he might know something that we don’t, we should be ready for anything”

“I agree”

I said as Ada got up and went to her room, I just sat there thinking about our next move and then after a while I felt sleepy and I went to my room and slept off.

The next day, I woke up feeling a bit weird, I felt like something strange was gonna happen today, I went downstairs to find Ada in the kitchen papering coffee,

“Good Morning William, how was your night?”

She asked, I knew something was off as Ada never really asked those types of questions or even greeted me in that manner,

“It was fine and yours?”

I asked and she replied

“Great, have a cup of coffee”

She handed a cup of coffee to me and I drank it, it was hot and refreshing but I was still wondering what was going on, did Ada lose her mind again or what,

I kept the cup of coffee on the table and before I could say anything, Ada blasted my head with darkness, I felt pain as there was this ringing sound in my head, I held my head with both of my hands and knelt to the floor,

I saw some flashbacks but none of it was clear, Ada blasted my head with darkness again as I screamed and then I saw something, a dark magical symbol and a dark entity with red eyes stretching out his hand and then suddenly everything stopped,

The flashbacks where gone and then I stood up slowly from the floor and yelled

“What the bloody hell what that for?!”

“Did you see anything? What did you see?”

Ada asked as I just looked at her and realized that she was just trying to help me get my memory back, I sighed and told her what I saw and she said

“Well that sucks, anyways it’s training time, we have no leads on the soul devourer case and a f*****g demon hunting priest is coming after us so we need to train, you need to know how to use your powers properly so go get ready, we’ll be out in ten”

She left and went to the balcony, I just stared at her and then I shaked my head and got ready for training, after a while we went to my garage as Ada said

“The pocket dimension was destroyed so we need a place were we can go all out and not put anyone in danger luckily for us I know the perfect place”

She opened up a portal and we jumped in and appeared in a desert,

“So this was the perfect place you wanted us to train? Under the bloody sun?”

I asked and she answered

“Yeah this is it, people hardly come here and it’s far from any populated area so we should be fine”

“Really?”

I asked and she replied

“Yes, I’ve also blurred satellite imagery with a sandstorm so nobody can see us”

“Wait we’re in a sandstorm?”

I asked and she said

“No you i***t, it’s an illusion, a construct I made for the satellites to see so we won’t be seen using our powers”

“Ah I see, so what’s next?”

I asked as I started warming up

“We train and please don’t hold back because I won’t”

Ada said as I smiled and said

“Oh I bloody won’t”

And then we ran towards each other.
