Kaius paced around his bedroom, a strange emptiness twisting in his chest after Austin turned him down.
Her voice still echoed in his head : "Don't come. I'm serious."
He didn't understand. Every time he reached for her, she pulled back.
He wasn't used to rejection, not from someone who looked at him like that.
Her face, her scent, her laugh kept playing in his mind.
Like a song that wouldn't stop. She even showed up in his dreams.
He let out a low growl, yanked at his collar, and pulled off his shirt.
He tossed it aside and headed for the bathroom.
He turned the shower knob straight to cold, hoping the icy water could kill the heat burning under his skin.
It didn't work.
