  Leo padded down the hallway in his socks, the polished wood floor cool beneath his feet. He didn't stop to grab shoes.   There wasn't time, and he liked the quiet padding of socked feet on hardwood.   Just as he reached Kaius's room, he turned the corner and nearly crashed into Lena. She stepped back, catching herself with a quick hand on the wall. Then she smiled, too quickly, like it was something she'd practiced.   Lena had been adopted into the Blair family years ago.
