Austin closed the door, let out a breath, and turned back into the apartment.
It was finally quiet.
Then she saw Kaius.
He was in the living room, casually rummaging through Eliot's suitcase…and pulling out his own clothes.
Her steps slowed. Her eyes narrowed.
He hadn't just"forgotten pajamas"this time. The man had packed an overnight bag and smuggled it in using his son's luggage.
Classic premeditated move.
When he looked up and met her glare, he didn't even flinch. No guilt. No apology. Just that smug little smile she was starting to recognize as dangerous.
"My mother packed it,"he said with a shrug, like that explained everything.
Oh, so he wasn't scheming.
It was just a coordinated family effort. Even better.
