POV’s Tate I could still remember how Ethan had been crushing on her for almost an entire year. She’d begun to hang out with him and some of his friends during our junior year, and he’d quickly fallen for her. However, he’d been nervous to change things between them, which was why it took him until this fall to ask her out. When I rang the doorbell at their house, I was glad that it was Ethan who answered. He looked like s**t. His hair was strewn about, his undereyes baggy. They barely even acknowledged the box of pizza in my hand. “Hey,” I said, before wrapping my arms around him. “I’m sorry.” Ethan stepped back after a moment, letting me in. “It’s fine.” I walked in, bringing the pizza into the kitchen. “You didn’t need to come.” His voice was dull. It hurt to hear him like that.
