“Where’s Dmitri?” Alexei interrupted, a ferocious urgency tainting his voice.
“He’s down in the locomotive, probably fine. We went to go see why the train had stopped. Essentially, the engine was busted. They had already evacuated some of the first cars because they were wary of being sitting ducks out in the middle of nowhere. He sent me out to go try and find you,” Adeline explained. “He didn’t think you’d want to see him. Said that you got in a fight.”
“Yes . . .” Alexei flushed, hanging his head. “It doesn’t matter anymore. I want to see him. Is he hurt?”
