CHAPTER 6

The next morning...

After eating breakfast, Haruto noticed a commotion in the castle gates.

He is alone now, by the way. Since his conversation with princess Lunaria the day prior, she haven't appeared before him. The one to wake him up once again was the head maid, Sarina. She accompany him to the dinning hall, but since she had her duties, she separated from him soon after.

Coincidentally, he met princess Eurina finishing her breakfast there in a hurry. Apparently, the time when she eats her breakfast is way earlier because of her classes, however when the maid woken her up this morning, she ended up sleeping again. In other words: she was incredibly late to her classes.

Vanessa was definitely going to punish her for this...

Haruto could only feel sorry for the little princess. Vanessa seemed like a very strict person.

In the end, he ended up eating alone. Princess Lunaria is the one responsible for accompanying him at all times, but what with happened yesterday, there's no helping it. She needed the time to herself.

Besides, he felt uncomfortable around her because of her fake persona, so if she's not with him, he's not complaining.

By the time he finished eating, and got out of the dinning hall, is when he noticed the previously mentioned commotion.

Observing in one of the windows in the second floor, Haruto saw a lot of knights, along with the captain of the royal guard, Lugh, welcoming someone.

That someone was a slightly old person, around his fifties. He was tall, and even with that person wearing clothes, one could perceive a body in top physical condition under it. He was not a 'macho' like type of body, but you could see muscles. His hair was all gray, and his trimmed beard was also gray.

He spoke with Lugh, and then was guided inside the castle. Haruto wondered who he was.

After a little while, he got called to the audience room, and found out who that old man was.

"Hero-sama, let me introduce this person to you. He's Fariz, the ex captain of the royal guard. He is Lugh's predecessor, and although he is retired and living a peaceful life in the kingdom, he's currently the strongest person in our kingdom besides you."

After calling for Haruto, the king introduced the old man Fariz to him.

"It is an honor, Hero-dono."

"N-No, the honor is mine. The strongest in the kingdom huh... that is very impressive Fariz-sama."

"Please Hero-dono, I am simply a retired old fellow, no need to address me with -sama."

"Ah, no... It's just in my previous country we have the custom of treating those older than us with respect, and besides you being older than me, you are in a position of admiration. Being the strongest in the kingdom and have served for years as a royal captain, it's honestly impressive."

"Well, Fariz-sama actually deserves respect besides being older than me. Unlike a certain annoying princess."

"Those gentle words are wasted on me, Hero-dono."

The king seeing this interaction, made a satisfied smile, and continued:

"Hero-sama, as agreed, we will begin your training today. I asked Fariz to come to the castle to be your instructor. He's very powerful, and very experienced, so I'm sure his teachings and advices will help you grasp your power."

"R-Really? That would be very helpful! I will be counting on you, Fariz-sama, no, Fariz-sensei!"

"There is no greater honor for me, Hero-dono."

"All right!! Now I can see a light at the end of the tunnel! Learning from the strongest will be very helpful! I'm gonna get stronger, kick that Witch's ass and finally be free!"

"Fariz. I thank you again from the bottom of my heart for accepting this task. I - no, this kingdom have a huge debt with you."

"Concern yourself not, Your Majesty. To train the Hero who will end the calamity we've been suffering for the past 800 years, it is an honor beyond words."

With the introductions in the audience room concluded, Haruto and Fariz started preparing for their first training section.

First, Haruto changed his casual clothes, to a small leather armor for training. He was also going to get a sword, but for this first section of training, Fariz told him that won't be necessary.

With all the preparations finished, both of them went to the field in the training grounds. This time, since the lesson would require silence, the knights of the royal guard couldn't train together with Haruto or watch his training.

Feeling a bit guilty about that, Haruto speaks:

"Is it really okay Fariz-sensei? I feel like I'm being a bother to the other knights..."

"It's fine. This training session is simple, you will probably succeed right away, so we won't take much of their training time."

"I see... what will I be learning today?"

"The basic of the basic. In order to fight in this world, Energia is vital. I heard you came from a world where Energia doesn't exist, so first, in order to use your Energia, you need to feel it inside you."

"Feel... the Energia?"

"Correct Hero-dono. Energia by itself is all around us, just like air. However, we cannot use the Energia in the air... even feel it is quite complicated. To be able to feel and use Energia, it needs to go through a refining process inside our bodies. Once it is absorbed by our bodies and refined, we can clearly feel it and put into use."

Haruto listened very intently to the explanation of his instructor, nodding sometimes.

"That is why before we do any physical or technical training, you must first grasp the power of the Energia that resides within you. Being a Hero, you have quite the Energia levels in you, which makes easier for you to feel it.

Let's try it. The fastest method to feel your Energia is by closing your eyes, relaxing your body, and looking inside yourself. Have a clear image of a powerful energy in your head, and then imagine that energy coursing all through your body. Starting by the very top of your head, to the very tips of your toes. By doing that, you'll be able to feel the Energia within you in no time."

"I understand. Then, let me try right now."

"To make it easier to relax, please sit down crossing your legs. And breath slowly."

Haruto did as told, and tried to relax.

Closing his eyes, Haruto started creating an image inside his head, and put all his focus on his body.

He imagined a powerful energy within himself.

But nothing happened. Nothing felt different.

"So, how is it Hero-dono? Grasp anything yet?"

"Ugh... no, I can't feel anything..."

"This is frustrating..."

"Fumu, no need to feel so down. It was only your first try after all. Coming from a world without this kind of energy, it is understandable that it might take a few tries."

"Y-Yeah, I see... I will keep trying."

Evening came, and today's training session came to an end.

The result...

"Please Hero-dono, don't let it get to you. I admit it's highly unusual, but there's been reports through the times indicating that is something possible to occur even with talented people."

Haruto was white as a sheet. Without saying anything, he just stared at the dark sky.

Fariz tried to make him snap out of it, but it was useless.

"Even if I'm a hero against my will... even if my status is shit... I never in my wildest dreams expected to be unable to do the very basics of this world... could it be... that I have zero talent? Even as a hero?"

"Please Hero-dono... cheer up. I know! I believe I can do something about this situation. It is a little risky, and normally not recommended... but there is a way to make you forcefully feel Energia."

With Fariz's words, a little color came back to Haruto's face.

"......There is?"

"Yes. However, it will require an empty room and a few other preparations. We can do it at the training session tomorrow."

Finally having a little hope, Haruto nods.

"Okay sensei. I might be like this, but tomorrow I definitely won't disappoint you!"

"I am glad to hear that Hero-dono. Now if you excuse me, I shall start making the preparations. See you tomorrow."

With that Fariz returned to the inside of the castle.

With the tension cut off, Haruto's body lost strength and he fell down on the floor in a position like the japanese kanji *.

The stars on that evening sky were starting to show up, and Haruto only admired in silence, without thinking anything in particular. He was just laying on the ground, resting until he feels like he's satisfied.

That's when he heard a voice close to him.

"Ufufufu, that's pathetic Haruto-san. To not be able to do something as simple as feeling Energia. You really are hopeless. You're supposed to be the hero you know?"

A sarcastic voice filled the air.

A voice he knew too well.

"Lunaria huh... so you decided to finally show up. And I see that you dropped your mask as well."

"Well, a certain masochistic hero prefered to be treated like this instead of my gentle self you see."

"There is no real gentle side to you after all. Having you being you is better.

Tte, who the hell is the masochist?!"

"Ufufu...hahaha! You really are interesting. Not in a good sense, mind you. You have a weird status, a messed up personality for a hero, you try to hit on the head maid, and have problems just to feel Energia. Really, you are a hopeless person, but it is interesting to be around you."

"I see huh... well, in my opinion being with your little sister is more fun than being with you."

"Ohhh... so besides all that, the hero is also a lolicon I see. I will have to tell father and Vanessa to keep Eurina away from you."

"I'll have you know that my type is sexy onee-sans like Sarina-san! Don't go associating dangerous s****l preferences to me!"

"Your type is sexy onee-sans? Oh no, could it be that you feel that way towards me...? Even if you violate my body, I will never give you my heart!"

"Who would want your body?!"

The two of them stayed like this for a little time. Lunaria harassing Haruto, and Haruto responding everything like a comedy duo.

"Nee, you shitty princess."

"What? You trash hero."

"Thanks. For being yourself with me. Even if you annoy me to no end."

"That's right. You really should be thankful that only you will see this side of mine."

"Tomorrow... the Energia... I will definitely be able to feel it."

"Damn right you will. I refuse to let me and this world die because of your incompetence."

After a while, both of them return to the castle, and the princess once again wears her gentle persona.

Haruto ate dinner, took a bath, and exhausted from the day, fell quickly into a deep sleep.

In the next day, at the time of the training session.

At a corridor in the third floor of the castle, Haruto, Fariz and princess Lunaria are standing in front of a door.

"Hero-dono! Are you all right?!"

"Fariz-sensei... I can feel it! I can feel the Energia through my body!!"

"Ooooh it was a success then! As expected of Hero-dono."

"Hero-sama! You are looking a bit pale, but I'm so glad you're all right! (lol)"

The princess was bitting her tongue to not laugh at Haruto's pathetic state.

However he was so happy, that he didn't even gave any attention to princess Lunaria's comment.

"Ugh... I honestly feel like crap. I totally underestimated this technique. When I started to allucinate, I panicked."

"Allucinated you say? That is odd, that is the first time I hear someone experienced allucination."

"Really? I saw a really creepy looking dark silhouette here in this room. It scared the s**t out of me."

"Well, I suppose that in that darkness and that harsh condition it really is possible to see some allucinations. I will keep that in mind. Before that, let me say: congratulations Hero-dono. Now combat training can finally start."

"Hehehe thanks. I look forward to it."

After a little while, Haruto recovered his sense of balance, and they all got out of the room.

Later that night, princess Lunaria told Haruto that she made Sarina do the cleaning in the room where Haruto was. After hearing that, he covered his face in his hands and agonized in embarassment for Sarina to have seen his pathetic side, and clean after him on top of it.

He couldn't look at Sarina's face for a couple of days because of that.

Three people were walking on the streets of the city.

They were in a highly crowded part of it, in a shopping district.

Walking side by side, there are two men and one girl. One of the men had a long blond hair tied into a ponytail, blue eyes, and was dressed like an adventurer (a light armor and clothes fitting for traveling). The other one had a green hair, glasses, and was dressed .
