1st Floor: The Beginning

It all started with a game

a game for an elevator

An elevator that could make you explore

the other world.

The rules you should follow are must.

Because if you don't, you'll not be able to come back.

But the most significant rule you must follow is,

Avoid the lady following at all cost.

"Don't talk nor look back, that is if you want to go back."

But then ....

This specific quote became

"Don't talk nor look back of you want to stay alive."

"Stop spitting nonsense, Professor Salazar" Ethan said gaining the class' attention. The tension slowly disappeared as the class started laughing. "Can't you feel thrill, Mr. Niethan?" The professor asked as he sighed.

"What I said was true, you're scaring the girls" Ethan said as he glances at Xyxy. Ethan give a sigh and looked at Professor Salazar once again. "Elevator game isn't tru-"

"What if I said I experienced it?" The professor cut off. "I am a science teacher Mr. Niethan and I don't speak nonsense. The truth is that, you don't have to play Elevator game to play it. The game will choose it's own player. And You won't be able to go back without completing the game" Professor Salazar said as others looked at him again

"What will happen if a person got there? What will happen here?" Eugene asked.

"A replacement. Like I said, it's the other world. In other words, a parallel world similar to this one. So if Mr. Niethan got picked, the Other world Niethan will come here to replace him. Act and talk like him"

"What are the rules then?"

"If you are chosen, don't go outside the elevator when the pattern of the elevator floors is was 4, 2, 6, 2, 10 without anyone touching the button or the button but the floor was slightly different."

"Why is that Prof?" Ben asked. "You will be killed but it depends if you would survive. That is if someone pulled you back or you return inside the elevator," the teacher said making the other gasp.

"Also, Do not speak to the girl with you on the elevator when the elevator suddenly had it's next stops on the fifth floor without any reasons. Press 10 and you will descend to the first floor meaning that the game will start"

"Are there many participants?"

"Yes"

"How to go back?"

"There is no going back if you didn't complete the game. Only 10 people will be able to go back"

Dismissal soon came and the classes came to an end. As Ethan was at his locker he heard a familar voice calling for him.

" ... hey, Ethan" Xyxy called as she chased after Ethan. " ... professor Salazar's really good at telling stories right?" Xyxy added.

"He's getting crazier everyday, he only talks about Elevator game and nothing else" Ethan contradicts. " ... I know you're not a fan of horror stuffs," Xyxy silently said as she smiled.

"It looked like you enjoy it though," Ethan said as he smiled at the lady. "Of course I did, its a little scary but its worth it," she said as beaming with happiness and light.

Ethan just smiled at the view of the lady beside him. But it soon disappeared when the girl looked at him again.

" ... don't you have any club activities?" Xyxy asked as she looked at the young lad. "Mmm, the mystery club doesn't have any meeting. But I guess we will have tomorrow since we have a new member," he answered as the girl hummed back.

"Xyrylle! Niethan!" a voice yelled getting their attention as they looked back and saw Eugene while waving his hand running to them.

"Eugene?"

Eugene approached them and smiled sheepishly while scratching his nape, "What is it?" Ethan asked.

"Well, uhm, you see. Today is my victory party for making it to the nationals─"

" ....congratulations" Xyxy silently praised as Eugene smiled. "Thanks, I appreciate it, Xyrylle," he thanked as he cleared his thoat and laugh awkwardly.

"The thing is, I want to invite you guys at the party. The whole class will go so I also want you guys to come," he said as Xyxy and Ethan looked at each other.

".... I want to come,"

"No."

The both looked at each other as Ethan and Xyxy had a little staring contest. A begging aura emitted and surrounds the girl making Ethan sigh and nod. "Fine."

"Okay, then let's go. The venue would be at Ben's apartment," he said as they went on their ways.

They started to walk and talk to each other, "Do you guys believe on what Prof said earlier?" Eugene asked as Xyxy hummed.

"... not that I believe it, but he said he experienced it firsthand. But to experience is to believe. How about you, Eugene?" Xyxy answered.

"Yuji is enough," he said and smiled. "To answer your question, I do believe," he said as both Xyxy and Ethan looked at him.

"Why? Is that because you believe in ghost stuff?" Ethan asked.

"No, that's not it. My mother used to tell it to me. Elevator game, is a real life death game conducted by the other world," he explained.

".... but, isn't Elevator Game's complete name was Korean Elevator Game?" Xyxy asked.

"Yeah, it is but others said that it was japanese. Tho, its not that popular this days" Eugene said

"You do know a lot about horrors," Ethan joined in.

"Well, the school has paranormal club. I joined in, that's why." he said as they entered in a fancy apartment.

" ...But you said you went to the nationals right? What club was that?" Xyxy asked.

"Ah, that was for the Karate Club." he replied.

The three of them entered the elevator right after passing through the hallways.

"He's living on the 4th floor so we'll take elevators" he said as he pressed 4.

They waited until the elevor dinged at the 4th floor. But then, Eugene noticed something different amd unusual about the forth floor.

"This is weird, this is not the floor we should be in" Yuji said and stepped outside.

"....!!"

Eugene took another step, leaving the elevator, observing his surrounding. Ethan also took a step outside, "Hold my bag, stay there for while," he said as Xyxy nod and took his bag.

"This is weird, it should consist of grand hallway. But this is like an abandoned place" Yuji commented as he walked around.

"Like an abandoned hospital to me," Ethan added.

As they walk around, creatures started to show up. They started following the two lad making Xyxy's eyes widen and froze. She can't move nor speak.

"Xyxy?" Ethan asked as she started mouthing some words.

Run and don't look back.

Ethan and Eugene froze at the spot as Ethan started walking slowly and Eugene followed. As they walked faster until they started to run towards the elevator.

But before Eugene could even enter the elevator, he looked back and saw black creatures full with blood. He was nailed and can't move.

Blood everywhere, some are holding human organs, licking it in front of him. There's a creature holding its own intestine and devouring it.

"H .... h-help" a voice kicked in making him shift his attention to the voice. "M-marie...?" He shockingly asked as he witnessed a horrible scene.

The biggest and scariest creature of them all had her in its hand. It used its bare hand to separate the lady's body into pieces as blood splatters, reaching Eugene's face.

Those body pieces create a huge mess for the creatures. As the biggest of them all gave its creepiest smile racing his hand do show Marie's head as he started to eat it.

Eugene was about to puke when Ethan grabbed his hand and dragged him to the elevator and the door closed soon after. Xyxy was kneeling all eyes widen in shock and fear. With her right hand on her mouth and her other hand on her stomach.

"Xyxy told you not to look back," Ethan said as Eugene put his head on top of the elevator's floor numbers. "I wish I didn't," Eugene said as the elevator stopped at the second floor.

Yells, scream and blood splatters everywhere. Because of how traumatic it was, Ethan gave Xyxy his headphones so that she won't hear anything. Same as goes to Eugene who shared his earphones with Ethan.

But that soon ended as the elevator stopped at the fifth floor where a lady with long black hair in a white dress entered barefooted.

"What a great stained blood you got there" the girl said as Ethan silently pressed the tenth number.

"It looks like you know how to play this game," she added. "Hey, Xyxy, do you know who am I?" she asked again as Xyxy heard it because mobile don't work.

"Mobiles don't work to my world or if you are with me, I know you three could hear me," she added with some dangerous tone in her voice

"My name is Azariah Aphelion, the elevator lady and one of the leader in this world HADES,"

"First rule is to stay alive. To complete the game, you must defeat the game system. 20 years ago Fernando Salazar wasn't able to c***k the game system completely making him the only survivor, he was able to get out alive with the other 9 but a month after escaping, those 9 survivors died."

"Only 10 could make it out alive, it could be the three of you, two maybe, only one or could be no one."

"Eugene Dwyer, Xyrylle Lenoir, and Neithan Varville, Elevator Game is on. Remember the supreme rule, don't talk nor look back, that is, if you want to stay alive."

Ding. The elevator arrived at the 1st floor as the game will soon start for the three of them.

Ethan, Xyxy and Eugene silently walked towards the pathway. Without looking back to the girl on the elevator called Azariah or to the elevator itself.

As Azariah was all alone she gave her most evil smirk she could ever give to anyone.

"Now, will you die or live? Just choose the wrong path, you'll face the door of death and life"

Azariah pressed the 10th floor and the elevator went up, after getting there she started to walk through the tenth floor.

She passed through the wall, "The last ones arrived, when will we start the games?" the lady asks.

"Next night after tomorrow, just make sure the game is interesting Azariah," the man said.

"This looked like a ghost town," Eugene commented as he looked around and saw fine buildings with no people living in it.

"... this looked like the neighbouring school in our world," Xyxy said as she looked up and saw Fammia Private Academy.

"It is, and our school Fontana Private Academy isn't that far from here," Ethan agreed.

"Guys, I think this is an abandoned place. Let's find a mall and change clothes. We also need to atleast find a place to stay in" Eugene suggested as Ethan thought for a while.

"Malls have home furniture section so maybe there we could find some futons or foams we can use," he agreed as Xyxy just nod her head.

They started walking through the empty and abandoned highway with a lot of trash on the road. "Where's the mall located again?" Eugene asked.

"It's not that far, just a few blocks from here," Ethan said and lead the way to the mall.

The mall came into their view as they started and silently entered the people free mall but with full and complete supplies.

They started to roam around and went to a wardrobe corner, "Let's pick some clothes, Xyxy, you go first. Its cold here so better go get some better clothes," he said as the girl nod.

Xyxy roam around and saw some comfortable clothes for her, she took a black hoodie, a striped skirt, black stockings and a sneakers.

Eugene got a white shirt, black varsity jacket, black jeans and a sneakers. While Ethan got a blue shirt, black jacket, jeans and a sneakers.

"If the game was like the first one, this is comfortable when fighting," Eugene said cheking up his outfit, he then noticed Xyxy taking her notebooks out the bag but left some other things.

"Why don't you just leave the bag behind?" He ask. "...we could use it if the there's some problem solving while in danger, I watched an anime live action alike on our situation, just in case," she answered and about to carry the bag when Ethan took it silently and wore it.

"... should we go to the food section? We can't sleep nor join the actual games if we don't eat anything," Xyxy recommended as Eugene nod.

"Yeah, I can't even sleep without an empty stomach," he said.

They started to wak around stalls, corners and every section of the mall as they find nothing.

They silently went inside as they roam around. Eugene sat at the floor while Xyxy was trying to find some food to eat and Ethan trying to find something to drink.

Xyxy saw a pizza on the kitchen. She then grabbed the large pizza and opened it. She later it on a table Eugene took a slice and started on eating with Xyxy.

Ethan came back soon after with three bottles of water on his hand. "Here," he said handling them the waters.

"What do we do now?" Eugene asked while chewing the pizza.

"Maybe find some other players? But we can't risk anything. Trusting other players is so difficult in this situation," Ethan answered.

" .... what if someone saw us and took us in?" Xyxy silently asked after drinking some water.

"Observe them carefully, its hard to trust someone so we don't know if they're plotting something bad. Yuji is also someone we don't know well," Ethan replied.

"That hurts," Eugene replied with his hand on his chest.

"But since we got here together, it's better to trust you. I don't want to have some trust issues in the middle of this kind of situation," he added.

"Complete it dude," Eugene whined.

"But regarding to it, if someone did invite us in. I think we should accept it and take some risk. We don't know anything about the rules and kind of games in this world. We only know that the Ultimate rule is don't look back,"

" ... what if they demand something back?"

"I don't think so, this is the other world. Being rich here is useless. You play, you survive. They could demand foods or waters. Or maybe demand our intelligence to help them up." Eugene said.

"Xyxy had her quick response, Yuji got strength and I have brains. If the 10 people got complete, maybe a great power could be built up to c***k the game," Ethan added.

"... but we should not get ahead of ourself. The first thing we had to do is find a place to stay in.If were here in Fammia it only means that our school is on the other city. Fammia's at the Keegan City while our school Fontana is in Arriety City," Xyxy said.

"But it will took hours, Arriety and Keegan are far from each other. We can't take the risk on travelling just to have a place to stay in," Eugene mentioned.

"We only need to find the section where we could get some futons or foams. Or even carpet where we could lay on as long as it have pillows and blankets. I don't know but its getting colder and colder . Besides, this is a mall so we should find some," Ethan said as they stood up, refill the water bottles and went outside the pizza stall taking the left over pizza with them.

They went to the third floor of the building to search for futons or foams.

"I wonder if we could see someone we knew," Eugene suddenly thought out loud while climbing the non working escalator stairs. "We encountered one already, haven't we?" Ethan said bringing back the horrifying scene a while ago.

"Please, don't. That scene is unbearable," Eugene said.

" ... it is," Xyxy agreed.

"Who's Marie anyway?" Ethan questioned.

"Marie Gaiety is our manager at the Karate club,"

" ... she's also a member of the student council,"

Silence kicked in, an awkward one to be precise. But got driven away by Ethan himself.

"What do you think will happen to her replacement?" Ethan asked.

"I forgot about the replacement, but it could be her but the Marie from this world. I guess anyone living in a death game world would leave their world to have a peaceful life, even if it takes killing their other self," Eugene commented.

" ... there's also a possibilty that the replacement will die or either go back here. Its a replacement. A replacement will always be a replacement and an original will stay an original," Xyxy stated.

"Multi-universe may happen, the more the universe the more us will be there," Ethan added.

After roaming the third floor, they saw a corner where there are foams, pillows, blankets and many more stuffs useful for them for the night.

They walked through the corner and started picking and grabbing some stuffs. They went out and started walking back to the puzza corner to spend the night there since that has food, water supply, warm place and has a place to hide in case.

While walking back to the second floor, Eugene suddenly spoke. "I wonder if people knew this mall exist."

" ... maybe just for supplies? There's a lot of supplies here. They can only grab it and leave then go back to where they stays in."

"Maybe or maybe not. There's a big possiblity though since Keegan city has a lot of apartments and houses than mall or grocery establishment," Ethan said and they were about to enter when ....

"DON'T MOVE!"
