Nobi Galanodel woke up on the 63rd anniversary of her birth full of excitement and determination. Today was going to be different. Today she was going to tell her best friend, Geithner, that she might just be crazy.
Sitting up she stretched her long, slender arms over her head and got up out of bed. Mother Moon had definitely graced Nobi in looks. She had light olive skin, long silver hair that cut off in a natural curve at her upper thighs, deep violet eyes that had golden flecks in the lower halves so that they looked as if they held fallen stars in their depths, and a small scatter of freckles over the bridge of her nose and across the upper portion of her cheeks. Her lips were a beautiful dusty rose shade that only enhanced her appearance all the more.
Having gotten ready and dressed she raced out of her home and into the middle of the tribe marketplace. Geithner could never avoid stopping in at least once a day in case there were any sales or good deals. Nobi was sure this felt like a second home to him as he would spend hours here if clan duties didn't call him away. She truly enjoyed his company. He always wore this faded jade colored robe with a silver rope belt. It brought out his light skin and green eyes. His pale yellow hair came past his ears but she never saw it meeting his shoulder.
Wandering around towards the booths holding more literature than other goods, she found him standing over a scroll, scanning the contents, and contemplating its worth, his right hand rubbing his chin and his brows furrowed. It was obvious he was deep in thought.
"Geithner!" Nobi squealed, causing him to nearly jump out of his skin, his heart pounding a million miles a minute.
"N-Nobi! You scared me." Geithner was as timid as a mouse. He was always so easily scared but that's what Nobi loved about him. His cautious nature always kept her wild side a little more in check than it would be if she had no one.
"I have a wild idea and I need you to talk to me about it immediately." Her eyes lit up brightly as the thoughts of it all crashed around in her head. Pressing her lips together and clasping her hands she almost couldn't stop bouncing from the excitement bubbling up inside her. "I'm going on an adventure!" She blurted out, almost a little too loudly.
Geithner's eyes widened and looked like they were about to pop out of his head. "SHH!! Do you want the elders to hear you?" He whisper scolded her, clasping a hand over her mouth. "Are you crazy?!"
Another browser cast a questioning gaze at them and he smiled wide, tilted his head, and chuckled at them before turning his face to Nobi and glaring. He pulled her away, walking until they were all alone.
"Are you out of your mind?" Panic laced concern coated his ever word.
"No, I'm perfectly sane. Aren't you bored, Geithner? We only know the Shadowlands. Have you ever seen what lays beyond the trees? Vast lands of grass and flowers, trails, I can't even begin to describe it all."
"You've been to the border? Or is it worse? Have you already crossed them? I know you've heard the warnings, we all have. It is so dangerous out there."
Nobi sighed and a look of disappointment crossed her face. This was the grounding she knew he would give her.
"Okay, fine." She crossed her arms and he looked satisfied that he had gotten his point across. "I just won't tell you when I leave."
"Y-y-you can't!" He stuttered. "Do you even know what to do to defend yourself i f you ran into a human? What steps do you need to take to ensure you're not mauled to death with their metal arms?"
"I'm sure their arms aren't actually made
of metal. Now you sound like the crazy one." She shook her head and rolled her eyes at him.
"Well how would you know? Have you seen one?"
"No, have you?" She countered.
He groaned and pinched his nose between his eyes before running his hand down his face, an exaggerated sigh escaping his lungs.
"I guess it can't be helped. If you're going, I'm coming with you. If nothing else I can at least help keep you alive from all the dangers you refuse to acknowledge."
Nobi smirked, this was what she was hoping for. Company in her shenanigans, and the best kind, a scaredy cat. "Alright. We meet at dawn before the patrols, by the old oak tree to the south. Gather only your essentials. I'll see you then." She then turned and walked away, leaving him to worry by himself for awhile. This was going to be so much fun.
