Mate?

“Mate! Mate! Mate!” Lou is screaming exited, wagging her tail and jumping up and down like a lovesick puppy. I don’t know what to do, he is starting at me.   “Hey Emma! You got here just in time! We were discussing about the training plans.” I just noticed that Ian was here too. I didn’t even noticed we were in my office.   “Let me introduce you. She is Emma, Beta of Night Sky Pack, Emma he is Alpha Dimitri.” Ian said looking at both of us.   “Nice to meet you Alpha.” I said bowing to him. He hadn’t taken his eyes off me, not even for a second. He is clenching his jaws, his pupils are dilated, his lips are slightly apart. He watches me from head to toe as if he is looking for something on me.   “The pleasure is mine. Let’s take a seat, we have to talk about the training plans and about the rogues attacks.” Dimitri said taking the seat behind the desk. Me and Ian are sitting in front of him.   “So physical training is also needed but mental training should also be considered. I have noticed that there are many young warriors in your pack. They need to be prepared gradually. I think they should be divided into pairs and alternate the pairs every two days so they have enough time to get to know each other, they can learn about their weaknesses and strengths. To work as a team they need to know each other.” I said because no one spoke for a long time after we took our seats. They both looked at me suddenly, I’m sure that they were talking to each other in their mind-link.   “That’s a good idea!” Ian said still looking at Dimitri.   “To have even more chances to get to know each other, we could organize a barbecue party in the weekend.” Dimitri said looking at me then Ian.   “The warriors could relax a bit after a lot of training.” Ian replied not taking his eyes off Dimitri.   “Emma, come quickly to the training ground! There was a little misunderstanding between Miles and a warrior from Blood Moon. They are fighting now!” Becka said panicked.   “Excuse me, but I have to deal with some warriors who cannot cooperate.” I said standing up from my seat.   “What happened?” Ian asked me standing up together with Dimitri.   “Miles and a warrior from your pack started a fight at the training ground. If we not separate them one of them is going to die.” I said heading to the training ground.   “We are coming too.” Dimitri said following me with Ian. I’m in a hurry to get there in time. I don’t know why they argued, but I know Miles. He wouldn’t fight with anyone for no reason.    As we arrive at the training ground, we noticed that the things got worse. Almost everyone is fighting now. There are a few people who are trying to separate them.   “Everyone stop!” Dimitri said, releasing his alpha aura. He is powerful, everyone feeling his strength they submit to alpha, even Ian. They descend to their knees is front of him. His aura is so powerful that I almost gave myself up. I look at Dimitri, he is already looking at me. I don’t know why but it feels so intimate looking into his eyes, I can see that there are a lot of emotions. Desire, happiness, confusion.   “How?” He asked so quietly, if I hadn’t seen his mouth move, I must have thought that I was imagining it.   “What happened that all of you started to fight?” Ian asked the warriors tearing us out of our world.   “He started it! He said that Emma won against Ian because she cheated. He disrespected my packs Beta! What I was supposed to do, let him talk bullshit about Emma?” Miles said angry pointing at a man, who was beaten well. I’m glad that Miles was all right, he survived with a couple of light wounds.   “Is that true Alex?” Ian asked him. Alex is well built, dark hair, brown eyes.   “Ian, let me handle this, please.” I said looking at Alex. I have to earn their respect, I need no one to help me with this.   “Ok.” He replied knowing what I was thinking about.   “If someone thinks that I’ve cheated against Ian, feel free to challenge me.” I said looking at the fighters. At the first they looked shocked, but after a few minutes they were determined to prove that I’m a cheater. I have to show them that I’m not afraid of challenges, I have to show myself that I’m capable to gain their respect even if I have to beat everyone.   “I’m challenging you, and I’ll show everyone that you’re not worthy of your title.” A man said as he stepped out of the crowd. He is a little taller than me, muscular, his upper body is covered in tattoos.   “When and where?” I asked him confident.   “Here at sunset.” He replied shortly.   “Okay, see you later umm...what’s your name?”  “Klaus.” He replied cold.  “Alpha Dimitri is there anything else important to discuss?” I asked him because I want to get prepared for the fight. Before the fight I have to talk to Miles about this and I want to check on Becka and John.   “I was thinking that we should talk to John. We need to get some information from him as soon as possible. I want to talk to you at my office before the interrogation.” Dimitri said heading back to the castle.   “Okay.” I said following him. I think that he is going to reject me. He didn’t undertake publicly that we are mates. I think Ian figured out already, this explains his strange behavior.   As we are sitting in his office, he behind his desk and me in front of him. His office is simple. A huge desk at the back of the room, two black armchairs in front of the desk and one behind it. A huge bookshelf with a few books, a white leather couch with a black coffee table in front of it. There aren’t much decorations.   “What would you like to discuss with me?” I asked him looking at his features. He is so good looking. His eyes seemed to be browner now, perhaps only because of the lights. Dimitri is tense, his eyes aren’t leaving mine, his hands are on the desk, he is breathing heavily.   “So we are mates.” He said watching my reaction. Maybe he is not sure that we are mates or he didn’t want one. I don’t know, but I will find out now.   “It seems so...If you want to reject me, do it now. We are in danger, we have more important things than our love life.” I said with no emotions.   “What makes you think that I want to reject you?” He asked me with pain in his eyes. He is playing a game or something? He didn’t claim that we belong to each other...what is he thinking about me? I’m not good enough to him? Or maybe it’s because of Amanda...  “You behavior tells me. You didn’t claimed me as your mate at the first moment you saw me, you treat me like anyone else and I met Amanda.” I replied, still keeping eye contact.   “Where do you think you're good enough for me?” He asked me furrowing his eyebrows.   “Excuse me? Where do YOU think that YOU are good enough for ME?! I don’t know you, no one knows about you or about your pack. And if you are acting like this I’m not going to be sure I want to know you at all. I’m not a toy or a mindless slut who thinks she is perfect. How can you be so arrogant as to say something about a person you don’t even know? I understand that you are the Alpha of a powerful pack and you have to be a powerful and a fearless leader, but that doesn’t forgive your stupid behavior. Keep a fair distance and be professional.” I said standing up leaving his office. Right now I don’t care about his response. He is so full of himself, I don’t know what’s wrong with him. I need to release my anger, I need a run.
