THE STRANGER IN THE LIBRARY
BETTY'S POV
The next morning, Lisa came to get me after breakfast.
I was sitting near the window when she appeared at my door, looking as though she had already been busy since sunrise.
“Are you ready?”
I looked up at her.
“Ready for what?”
“The library. I told you yesterday that I was going to take you there.”
I remembered then.
She had mentioned it while we were talking about the Red Luna gathering, saying there was something in the library she wanted to show me.
I got up from the bed and followed her out.
The guards were already waiting outside.
They fell into step behind us as soon as we started walking, and I glanced over my shoulder at them before turning back to Lisa.
“They really don't get tired, do they?”
