Slater

Victoriå I picked myself up off of my bed, wiping away the blood on my lips and going into my bathroom. My hair was matted with blood, causing a sigh to come out of my mouth as I saw that the wound on my head had reopened because of my father. I got into the shower and washed everything away, washing my hair then getting out and wrapping myself in my towel. After that I got ready for school and left the house, not bothering to make breakfast as my mother wasn't even home. It was still kinda early, so I took the long way to school. I smiled at everyone as I passed by, instantly being cheered up as I received smiles back, Humming, I was about to walk past a man on the side of the street when I overheard his conversation with someone. "Miss, please. I haven't eaten in a week." He pleaded. "You think you deserve money from me? You'll never be anything but a homeless fool!" A woman shouted at him as he sat on the side of the street in tears and I instantly shook my head. I took the rest of the money from my pocket and walked into a*****e, coming back out with breakfast and going over to him. "Here you go, Sir." I said quietly to him as I placed it in front of him and he looked up at me. "Oh thank you, thank you!" He cried, tears flowing out of his eyes as he took it. "It's okay." Even Though I'd have to starve today. But, He deserved it more than I did. I shot the lady a smile as I walked by, to which she rolled her eyes and I laughed under my breath. I walked the rest of the way to school, running a hand through my hair as I got into the gates. The parking lot was filled with students and I tried to enter as unnoticed as possible. "Hi, Rhee!" A girl said as I walked by and I smiled at her, giving her a small wave. "Hi." I replied, realizing that now, most of everyone's attention shifted toward me. I received 'Hi's and 'hello's as I made my way toward the doors. "Rhee!" I heard a familiar voice call from behind me and when I turned around, I found Damien and a group of guys, who were surrounded by a lot of people. He waved me over and my anxiety rose as now, all eyes turned to me. Keeping my head down, I walked over in his direction as he stood in the midst of everyone. Once I got to him, he threw an arm over my shoulder and turned me toward his friends, who I had already seen through the window that day. "Guys, this is the peeping Tom from a week ago." He said teasingly and I couldn't help but laugh, placing my both hands in front of my mouth as I did. "This is River and Ryder," He said, pointing toward the twins who stepped forward. "I'm the hot one." River said, dramatically brushing some hair behind his ear and his brother laughed, pushing him away. "And by hot he means always profusely sweating from his feet." Ryder interjected, coming over and giving me a hug. "That's Kyle," Ryder said, pointing to their other friend who stood off to the corner. "He was born with a rare deformity." "Oh." I said, expecting a sad story. "He was born with a stick up his rear end." Ryder whispered and I couldn't take it anymore. I started laughing to which Damien chuckled and pushed Ryder away. "Slater is running late. I'm gonna go-" River started before being cut off by Damien. "He'll be here." Damien told him, motioning toward me and River made an 'O' shape with his mouth, confusing me. Just as he was about to say something else, they all looked up as a red Ferrari sped through the gates, making everyone hop out of the way. I've seen that before. They parked effortlessly and after a while, the person got out of the car, sunglasses covering their eyes and I smiled slightly. He locked his car and leaned against it, crossing his arms over his chest and staring back at everyone with a blank expression. "See?" Damien told River, who rolled his eyes. "Yo, Slater, look who we have here." Ryder said, throwing an arm over my shoulder and Landon's head turned in my direction. Wait...Slater? He then looked back at the guys and made a single motion with his head, to which Ryder nodded. "Bye, Rhee." He said, giving me a side-hug using his arm on my shoulder and walking away with the rest of the guys. "Slater?" I asked with a smile, walking a little closer. "You don't look like a 'Slater'." I teased and his head tilted downward slightly to look at me. He took his shades off before running a hand through his thick hair and crossing his arms over his chest again. He stared at me coldly for some reason, causing chills to run down my spine at how sinister the look on his face was. But as I looked closer, I realized that he wasn't looking directly at me, but rather at the cut on my forehead that I was positive was almost entirely covered with makeup. "How is that even possible?" I asked and his eyes snapped down to mine before he slowly shrugged. He suddenly stepped away from his car and turned around, opening the passenger side door and grabbing a bag with a logo on it that I recognized all too well. "You stopped at Dino's?" I asked, giving him a knowing smirk, assuming that the food was for himself but I was blown away when he handed it to me. "Oh. no. I-" I was about to say when he shot me a blank look and I laughed."Thanks, Landon." Then he simply shut the door again, leaning against it for the second time today and slipping his sunglasses back on.
