Lizzy
I've always known that I wasn't normal since I turned twelve. It was a weird feeling but it always felt like I could hear some other voice talk inside of me and the crazy part was that it comforted me. When I turned thirteen, I knew what I was, a werewolf and in other words an abomination to the human world and I had to play it down in three parts.
Conceal, don't feel and don't…
“Go over there, that guy has been staring at you since we got here” Yolanda whispered into my ear excitedly.
Maggie was a retired call woman who had connections to the right people who gave access to the top parties in town and all we had to do was show up. And tonight as usual, we had free access to the biggest, wealthiest housewarming party I had ever been to and all I wanted to do was…
“Lizzy, are you even listening to me?” Yolanda whispered.
“What is the point? I just want to go back home” I mumbled. I was honestly not feeling any of tonight's activity.
Yolanda yanked me to a corner “Look at me Lizzy, we are here for a purpose. You won't sulk around, you will go out there to talk to any of those gentlemen, you will give them a f*****g blow-job or whatever it takes to have that money and you will pay bloody Sam. I don't want you dead Lizzy” she said seriously while I looked at her with my eyes slightly wide. I mean yeah, I understood what she meant, she just didn't need to spell it out in such graphic detail.
The thought of Sam sent my heart racing and beads of tears formed on my forehead. I needed to get my head into the game.
“Now do you understand how important this is?” Yolanda asked me.
“s**t…” I giggled nervously. “I do. I was just lost in my head for a while”
“Well then” Yolanda winked at me and I blushed “get ready to go dance the night away. If you start acting too shy, he may not be interested later”
“f**k off” I laughed and rolled my eyes. This time I actually felt like smiling but my mind still wandered.
After gulping a glass of champagne down my neck, I moved to where the gentleman was standing.
“Do you think you can spare a glass for one” My voice was high-pitched and sultry at the same time.
His eyes scanned my body hungrily while I was doing an impressive job at trying to look as if this was not a big deal.
But the voice inside of me that served as a reminder of my werewolf roots seemed to have other plans for me. I hadn't felt connected to it like I was now since I locked it away.
I felt weird on the inside as electric currents flowed through me , sending signals to every cell in my body. I closed my eyes briefly. I couldn't let anyone see my reaction right now. The last thing I needed was for Yolanda to get suspicious. She'd probably kill me if anything went wrong.
The man chuckled. “Of course”
But I had lost interest.
I didn't know how much I could explain it but at the farthest corner of the room stood someone in all black. What was crazier was the fact that my Wolf was pulling me towards him.
And goosebumps formed on my skin . Something about his presence sent shivers down my spine. Maybe it was because he was handsome but something else was going on deeper than that. There was something about him that made me want to trust him. It made me want to run over to him and throw my hands around his neck and hug him until I…
“I need to use the restroom” I lied blankly to the man in front of me taking my eyes off the stranger in black.
“Come on sugar, you just got here” He pulled me by the wrist, a little bit too forcefully for someone of his age . It almost sent me falling on my butt.
“I want to use the restroom, I'll be back” I lied even more, forcing a smile on my face, ignoring the pain in my wrist and pulling myself from his grasp.
“Are you sure?”
“Positive sweetheart” I gave him a bigger fake smile.
It took some time but eventually, I was able to walk over to the restroom unnoticed, closing the door behind me. I leaned against the bathroom wall, my fingers slowly coming apart from my wrist as I took deep breaths.
I stood in front of the mirror for the second time tonight and I looked as pale as a ghost .
I tried to convince myself that everything was alright and that I was just overwhelmed, but my wolf didn't believe that excuse. The only reason I kept quiet when I felt a strange tingling sensation in my stomach was because of the alcohol in my system.
It had to be.
After what felt like forever even though it was just a few minutes later, I left the restroom.
With each step I took, it felt as though I was being watched by someone.
“Hello?” I called out into the empty corridor. It sounded like a whimper.
My head started pounding, making me groan. I felt my wolf stir inside of me.
“Is anyone there?” I felt like a child playing hide and seek, running into walls in the dark hallway. I tried to keep calm and focus, I couldn't afford to faint here.
My voice echoed loudly, echoing into the distance. But I heard no sound.
This was ridiculous. How many people could there be in this mansion anyways? There weren't any guests so far. The only ones who would come here to celebrate were rich bastards.
I was done playing this stupid game so I walked faster, trying to ignore the voices that had started getting louder and louder the closer I got to my destination. A sudden loud bang startled me and I almost fell flat on my face before catching myself and regaining balance but the last thing I expected was right in front of me.
